Highest AMD HTT speeds

No, dropped the HTT multi to 3x. The problem now is that my CPU is going beyond its maximum due to me not being able to change the multi.

HTT Multiplier and FSB:DRAM make no difference to whether it will boot or not. I can drop the RAM right down to 187MHz so I know its not that, and the HTT is way way below 1000MHz, so its not that either.

CPU limit all because multipliers don't seem to work :(

EDIT: was running 1.475v vcore, tried 1.5v vcore no difference.

And I am on the latest BIOS.

That IS nutz. Have you tried dropping your multi once in windows VIA Ai BOOSTER....to see if it applies?

Never used AI booster, never even heard of it.

Only thing I am doing is raising FSB with ClockGen (to get around the 275+ FSB boot problem), and setting memory timings with A64Tweaker.

EDIT: AI Booster is for asus boards is it not?

Won't work on an abit surely?

EDIT2: Dunno if uGuru for Abit boards let you change multi, but I can't run uGuru because the version for my board doesn't support vista :(

Not bad! As far as the RAM goes, I would drop it down to a 133 divider for now, that way it will be running slower than 200MHz and you'll be able to see how high you can push your CPU. Don't worry too much about overclocking your RAM, as the increased CPU speed will be of greater benefit.

Also, go into the memory options in the BIOS and change the command rate from 2T to 1T, as this gives better performance. I think it's called CMD-ADDR timing or something on this board. You're right about the HTT link, x3 = 600MHz, x4 = 800MHz etc. You should change the PCI-E link width to x16 too, it's only running at x8 currently.

Thanks for the input (again!) The only thing I'm having probs with now is trying to find where to change my PCI-E width to x16. Can't seem to find it in the BiOS. I Have PCI-E Frequency which gives me an option of entering a number between 100 and 150 or the PCI-E voltage which is obviously stock @ 1.20. So you think I can o/c more on air? Have seen a Dual Core +3600 on this forum get up to 2999 on water (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17738811) :)

EDIT: thought I'd include pic

yeah Ai booster is ASUS software but you never know. Failing that you can try A64info beta from here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=96678
it's worth a try since your UGURU doesn't work.

Have you tried compatability mode in vista? Run UGURU under XPsp2 compatability......might be a workaround.

Mercuary PSU's arent all that bad, certainly better than Q-Tec Golds.

had a couple of 300w, to ebf air,t hey did let go at about 200W load. but:

they just turned off and never back on, nothing atall was harmed
the voltaged were a little low but didnt fluctuate much under load
very quiet
i was using a heavily modded KK266+R - not renound for being gentle to PSU's

i still use a 400w merc in 2nd pc. it was for a while running a 3700+ sandy @ 3000mhz with X1800XT on full overdrive... it got very hot but was fine. so dont blame it just yet.

Will give A64info a run when I get home. Unfortunately there is no workaround for uGuru on vista, it needs direct access to the hardware which the new HAL stops completely. :(

Slowly getting higher though, managed to get 3Dmark06 to run at 260fsb now (score updated on your thread). Going to install XP tonight on another HDD and see if the multiplier works properly then. Might get back to 335fsb :D

ok buddy....best of luck :)

Not had much chance to have a play tonight, been playing too many ladder matches on COD2. :p

Had a quick blast with A64Info 0.63beta just now and I can confirm that the multipliers DO work if set with A64info! Just had my machine running at 366x7, tried to push for 385x6, but as far as I could tell, the memory bummed out (running at DDR333 divider) as it would have been up at 315MHz~ by this point and that is too far for it.

Doesn't seem to like running the DDR266 divider, so need a play with voltages and switching dividers at the right speeds to get my memory at its maximum.

Going to push for a CPUqueen benchmark at 385MHz tomorrow, perhaps even try and get CPUz verified at 400+ :D

I love your watercooling setup, best I have ever seen :D:D

You can try for more but the overclock you've got now is pretty respectable, plus the x2 3600 is an AM2 chip I think! What's the vcore set at in the BIOS and are sure it's stable i.e. have you run Prime or Orthos for 8 hours or more? The link width setting is in the BIOS under Advanced, PCI Express Configuration.

Its just not very LAN friendly as it is though Soldner m8 ! :D

I've just ordered a X2-3800 as it is soo cheap now. Gonna replace my ageing A64 3500 single core. Hoping to see a nice boost now a mate gave me a second 7800GT :D

Had mines upto 325mhz with mad high 1500mhz+ HT Link, but with low mutli.
At 350mhz PC locked up and mad loud noise came out speakers, this was without touching any chipset volts only locked PCI-E bus to 101mhz on Asus Crosshair

At 300mhz I can run my CPU with higher multi back up to stock speed of 3GiG, no issues.
