Hiphop fans in here?

I can stomach Kanye as he raps about (mostly) real life stuff and having fun etc.

Anyone who listens to hardcore gangster rap about killing people and life on the streets and isn't from that background generally tends to come across as a bit of a **** or whigga. It has it's place, that is Baltimore/NYC/la.

Overall though rarely listen to the genre.

I really like Kanye, I will go so far as to say the album "My Beautiful Dark twisted Fantasy" was his best yet. I don't like him in the same way that I like other rappers though. He is unique.

Definitely get 'Seven's Travels' (I think it's their strongest overall album) and I also like 'To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy' which is kind of darker, more chilled. Their new album 'The Family Sign' is also amazing - very very polished and smooth songwriting.

My current favourite album at the minute is the self-titled Doomtree album (who I got into after asked for a recommendation of people like Atmosphere), which has my current favourite track on it, 'Dots and Dashes':

Be warned, hip-hop is kind of addictive - you'll find one group then start listening to their side projects and find about five or six other groups you are into :)

I'd definitely say that God Loves Ugly is their best record, followed by You Have No Idea How Much Fun We're Having.

I really like Felt 2 as well, although I think Felt 3 is better. Not Atmosphere, I know, but Slug's there so it all counts.

This last few months ive been bumping a lot of indie UK hiphop, a lot of which is free and of a very high quality.

The best release has been Tenchoo - Scary Movie the album, its only a fiver. Loads of other high quality stuff is free like Enlish - The Sunny EP, Dick Limerick Academy (two free albums), Cruger etc, a lot of guys from the dont flop battle scene.

Heres a few samples.

It's only a 1xtra radio show. hardly as dodgy legally as all the youtube content on here. but I don't make the rules. :)

It is long but deffinetly worth a listen. Fastest hour of music you have ever experienced.

Bought a couple of new things last week - The new Flight Distance album, $10 canadian dollars, absolutely stonking album, and I bought Enlish's pill shaped usb stick with two albums on it, pretty good value for a tenner.

Underground scene is vibrant on both sides of the atlantic right now, theres some great music coming out of Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Brighton, Glasgow and Plymouth.

Give this guy a listen: http://lunarc.bandcamp.com There are a few free tracks on there, see what you think.

He is pretty cheeky and the music isn't mega 'serious'. If that makes any sense!
