Hit & Run!

Yeah if it is fake, I just can't see anything that sticks out in terms of special affects. The only issue is the guy that gets run overs scale, as his head only comes upto the height of the wingmirror on the car, but maybe he was just a midget.

The calls to the police are also suspicious, why edit them out?

Edit: Saying that, it's more like shoulder height.

I was thinking that if it was edited it was pretty good too, but thinking this evening they wouldn't have to edit it for it to be fake (although knowing what adobe after effects can do these days its not especially hard) It could just be a mate who walks into the side of the car and jumps backwards, the camera car is a fair distance away here so there isn't a lot of detail. First time i watched it i thought i saw a guy getting flipped up into the air, but looking again its not such a severe hit, if a hit at all?

Okay, clutching at straws a little, but they wouldn't need £3-4k of video manipulation software to pull it off.

Had a read through the ph thread as well, can't believe the people asking for evidence its fake when people are asking for evidence that its real and stating what evidence they'd accept and how easy it would be for the sources to provide it :D

The bit I don't get about the fake claims is people claiming they sell the camera that was used, so it's supposed to be a viral. Surely since their main retail is exhausts, it would have made more sense for them to have made a video regarding exhausts? I could understand the fake claims if they were the OEM/ODM of onboard cameras...

@Brian8bit - the tags on the video contained the word "viral"

@Amoeba - Well, it would make sense holding the footage until the case was settled.

As for the fake claims, well, there are 3 positions that people can take here
1) Take the video at face value
2) Dismiss the video completely
3) Sit on the fence

I think at this stage most people are either in 1 or 3, but people in position 1 assume others are in position 2

To me the video is compelling and i want to believe it, but there are a few too many questions over it at this stage and that is enough for me to wait and see if there is extra supporting evidence from an independent 3rd party source. (and under normal circumstances there would be)

Fishier than Geri Halliwell on a Spanish fishing boat? You bet!
Fake? We'll see…

Join me on the fence, its more comfortable than it looks

This is actually very good advertising.

Shock video. Everything censored. Business's website link in description and phrase "SEND LINK TO YOUR FRIENDS."

Sorted.

Honestly I'd be very surprised if it was fake. It would be an extremely elaborate fake just to sell a few dash cams, what with how shocking the driving shown in the video is and so on.

I really don't see any reason to believe it's fake. Too much effort for too little gain if you ask me - also the voices of the people in the car seem absolutely real and not acted to me, as does the entire setup - a small company selling dashboard cams would not be able to be this convincing if they decided to stage an accident/chase to get a load of YouTube views. I'm no expert though.

Presuming it's real that is some just shocking driving though.

Exactly when the man stops the women and you hear him speaking you can feel the shakes and adrenaline he must going through which anyone would have if they just witnessed that. I guess thats pretty hard to fake.

What tweaks my suspicion is, wouldn't such a video be inadmissible as evidence in court? As in an effort to catch the woman, the driver of the pursuing car makes a few questionable manoeuvres himself and clearly breaks the speed limit.

Hopefully his actions would be seen as a cause for the greater good, but I cant help thinking that the driver would get reprimanded for dangerous driving himself if he showed the vid to the police.

That could be explained by the wide angle lens on the camera. I think I'm using the same dash cam as him and because it uses a 120 degree angled lens it does distort things on the corner of the video and make things look further away than they actually are.

The fact people are unsure whether it is fake or not, clearly shows just how utterly wreckless and retarded that womans driving was. Looks pretty real to me .
