She got banned and suspended (!) community service from what I can remember.

Edit:

she got away lightly with a 2 year suspended, 200 hours community service, 2 year ban and had to pay the victim £500 compensation

I thought she got a 2 year suspended sentence and 200 hours of community service - it's the prison that was suspended not the community service.

Personally I think she should have spent time at her majesty's leisure. Also why are driving bans so short, she shouldn't have been allowed back on the roads for a decade.

TBH, a high proportion of people that get driving bans are also the sort of people who would drive without a licence anyway.

At least if they aren't banned, they might think about getting insurance.

Yeah, I also think driving when banned should carry a mandatory prison sentence.

The police don't hand out justice, the so called courts do.

My house was broken into recently and the copper who attended was superb. I actually wrote to the super at the police station to express my gratitude at the service received.

I did happen to ask him how he felt about the hard work he puts in being converted to community sentences, suspended sentences, being let off altogether etc.

He told me "we all try not to think about it, if we do it gets to us and that will impair our judgement on the job"

'we all try not to think about it' - I think that speaks volumes.
