Hitman Absolution Pre-Order.

I love that saying. It refers to someone dating a waitress/waiter or whatever from your favourite resturant. You may get great food whilst everything is going ok, but once the relationship ends you can never go back to that place again or be prepared to eat ****.

Yeah I'm aware of the phrase, that sentence is totally ridiculous though!

The reviews for this aren't looking good tbh.

6-7/10 at most places, except IGN who are 9/10.

What score would you guys give?

86/100

6-7 is still a pretty solid score for a sequel these days, especially one that is trying to appeal to a broader audience to drum up more sales. That will obviously be at odds with the purists who loved the original.

I've not really played enough of either mode to give it a fair review and I'm guessing many will feel the same. So far I'm enjoying it though, performance issues aside.

Agreed, the reviews are not that bad, and most of reviewers just sound like they sucked and thus didn't get much out of the game.

I wanted Blood Money 2.

This is like a horrible cross between Blood Money and Splinter Cell Conviction ( which was pap).

It is still a good game in its own right ( bar the save game and disguises issues) but i would probably only give it a 7/10.

Some may love it, but as i said, i just wanted more Blood Money.

It is a lot like conviction, but I don't get why that's a bad thing, Conviction only added more to the games and improved them imo, all it needed was some kind of sandbox feel to it like Double Agent had.

Absolution though has just improved leaps and bounds imo, added a lot of features that the Hitman games have needed for a very, very long time. Although tbh, I'd of prefered it if Purist took away melee attacks and the ability to subdue, and given 47 a few bottles of chloroform though, as being able to knock everybody out and hide their bodies is a little overpowered, but it is something the easier difficulties in previous games have screamed out for, as it only makes sense. 47 is a superhuman cloned killer, he should be able to easily choke out/snap the neck of a few humans. :p

I just see no reason to dilute what was a unique and different franchise with stupid quick time events, save checkpoints, linear levels and splinter cell esque stealth mechanics.

I think the 6 and 7 out of 10's are actually a true reflection on the game

It is very pretty and not a bad game at all (i will play it through and i am sure i will enjoy it) but it's lost it's uniqueness in a big way.

If it was similar to the older game it would have been outdated though, as even Blood Money felt very last generation both graphically and gameplay wise. I do agree it's kind of split away from its own unique thing and tried to follow the general stealth game path, but it's still Hitman, you still have your targets and a lot of ways to take them out, it just has a modern polished feel to it, this is the biggest jump in terms of quality in the series imo.

:( because it is a Hitman game, not Splinter Cell.

In my opinion, conviction was the worst Splinter Cell game. It all felt like it was on rails and was mostly just filled with "press button to kill" quick time events. It didnt feel like a game...more like a point and click adventure. I got bored with it and never finished it...

They've been out for a while now but nice to have another reminder considering the issues I've had with the other two betas.

I don't see the issues with the saves, quick saves and manual saves would make the game far too easy even if you limited them on the higher difficulty settings. Games are far too easy as it is and this current system works well imho.

Ah I totally see what you mean yeah, but Conviction was still quite difficult on highest, but nowhere near Double Agent for difficulty. Although out of all of the games that have streamlined from their older, hardcore games, Hitman has took the least impact by miles, it's still fantastic. Though maybe I have rose tinted specs on due to this being the one franchise I've played all of my life since a child, and have always ended getting regardless of the platforms I own, multiple copies etc. Heck I had Blood Money on the PS2, got a 360, got it on that and then tried to get it on PS3 when I got that and recently off Steam. :p

Hell, I even went down town to grab a copy of a magazine at 7am because it had the Blood Money demo in it pre-release. I just love Hitman. :(

Ok so this game is one I've been looking forward to the most out of any franchise. I cannot believe it's took them 6 years to release a new game.

I think it's absolutely fantastic, apart from a few minor things as stated. I'm not a huge fan of people in the same uniform being able to detect you and I think there's far too many buttons. You used to be able to press E for most actions but now it's press E to do one thing, press B to do another, Q to do something, G for something else. These could easily have been combined to E.

Only done the tutorial and King of Chinatown mission (twice) on Easy. Going to progress through all the levels on each difficulty and learn how to pull off different types of kills before progressing through Purist.

This game will be completed 100% :)

a lot of people seem to think the 6 year wait was due to Glacier 2 being made which isn't true, Glacier 2 is a great engine, but it's only a beefed up version of the modified Glacier they used in Kane and Lynch 2. Still though, new engine, new story, improved graphics and more missions then you can shake a stick at, I'd say it was 6 years pretty well spent.

I agree with the QTE's, pretty annoying spamming Q to subdue and for melee combat, They should have left them out but whatever, I still think the game is good and they obviously needed to make certain choices to apply to a larger audience.

We just need to prey there next one if there is one won't be as streamlined or gimped even more

Is this game an unoptimized console port and should future patches make things run smoother ?

How does this Hitman game up to blood money ?

It's not too bad, my rig can run it at about 40fps average with everything on high, no tessellation though, but that's only because my 6850 cries when you use it.

Weird game though tbh, my fps doesn't change much when the graphical settings are altered, I only lost 4 maximum FPS, my minimum and average FPS from the benchmark remained the same when I jumped from 1440x900 to 1920x1200.

Running 60fps average on ultra settings with max FXAA and no MSAA.

However im getting random crashes every now and then for no reason... can't work out whats up.

Just running a cache verification now through steam for the game... ahh so annoying.

That painful moment of wearing a security outfit and then in the cutscene you're wearing your normal suit :( I've always disliked that in games.

I'm using the beta drivers and on ultra is just looks amazing, even on the levels with lots of people. Reminds me of that mardi gras mission.

I knocked AA down to 4x and get 70fps in the benchmark was getting 30fps at 8x. Trying to run in 3d is a joke even with no AA its only 25fps.......

Was that with both of your 7950's or just the one?

Ingame Steroscopic 3D with CrossFire(AF:trilinear) is very poor though:

Scaling@35% is pathetic in 3D :(
