Hitman Absolution Pre-Order.

Finally finished the Orphanage on hard, another blood bath. I seriously can't believe someone play tested that as silent assassin on hard.

Even going guns blazing it was still hard, the AI is pretty good and with the constant flow of backup arriving it's not really a case of sitting back and picking them off. Especially as you run out of ammo!

Don Osmond was fairly easy after I worked out the simple way of getting rid of him.

Headed into the toilets on the left side of the bar and up a few steps. Used the Garrotte on the cop who was having a wizz and hid his body in a toilet cubicle. Waited a few minutes and after Don Osmond finishes his lapdance he wanders round and into the toilets. Used the Garrotte on him again and hid the body in the same place as the cop.Job done.

Is it a Cop in the toilets or Staff? I seem to recall it being Staff with a keycard which is how I gained entry to the various backroom areas. I ended knocking him out, hiding him in the cupboard, then using his keycard to get to the staff room in the back, picking up a silenced pistol then using the keycard to get into the room with the one way mirror at the end of the hall by the VIP rooms. Then killing Don through the glass after the private lapdance just after he finishes his phonecall, hiding him in the bin behind me.

Didn't find the orphanage that hard, didn't use my guns but killed two people I think it got a bit harder towards the end but just dressed as one of them and just about managed to finish the level.

On Normal it is fairly straight forward once you know what route to take, knocked out one guy in total at the start and then you can basically walk around without much issue, couple of areas where you have to time it right on the way back to the fuse room but that's it. Suspect it is quite a bit harder on err hard.

Anyone find the transition at the end of Orphanage a bit odd, usually it shows you how you got from A-B but on this it doesn't and you just randomly appear in a different place.

Well from what I found on the hard version, the guys around the 'items' downstairs just don't move away. So unless you're an expert at throwing fire extinguishers and wrenches to distract them, I can't see it being possible. It probably is, and mega kudos to those who can!
Thankfully after that part it went back to being enjoyable again :)

Yeah on Hard they won't budge! I'm looking forwards to replaying that level the most so far, once im done with the story. Trying to even do that on Hard with minimal kills will take up many hours!

I'm finding it hard to stay ninja since getting to dexter industries. I generally end up going gung ho once I make a mistake. It's too easy though, and far from satisfying. Well, shooting people in the face is, but completing the level isn't.

Definetely one of the best games ive played this year. I love stealth games and all the different options in which you can take a target down is so satisfying.

Sneaking into places undetected and killing your target is awesome.....also the story and characters have really got me sucked in.

Lol yea, I only played through on normal but whenever I got detected I just killed everything then restarted at checkpoint, its good to let off some steam when being caught multiple times in a row :p

I can't remember actually. I seem to recall it was a guy in a pale brown/beige 'Sheriffs' type outfit, not the dark coloured uniform of the usual cops. I might be thinking of another section of the game though as I had a marathon Absolution session last night and played through a load of levels.

I would be surprised if not everyone did this :p

Woah, just played a level and got massive fps drops on it. Don't want to give it away but it was a shop and there was a lot of shooting going on outside and a lot of guns.. I think I found the limit with ultra settings on that one..

What settings are people using?

I am trying the benchmark and adjusting the presets between ultra, high and medium seems to be making little difference to either the image quality or the performance. I am using an i7 920@ 4GHz and a 7970 @ 1185/ 1625 on latest beta's. I am struggling to see much visual difference even with going from lowest to ultra and the results bare that out.

I have turned msaa off and everything else at lowest and I get:

min: 46.0
max: 146.0
average: 71.65

on ultra I get:

min: 39.62
max: 130.35
average: 57.98

Do those scores not all seem a bit too close together? I mean, a 7970 with a fairly decent overclock on a quad core, hyperthreaded cpu (albeit getting a bit long in the tooth) getting minimums of 46 fps at lowest settings???

The difference % wise between lowest and ultra are,

Minimum: 13.86%
Maximum: 10.72%
Average: 19.08%

Can anyone else confirm that is the case with their set-up as well?

I want it to run at a constant 60 and can accept the occasional dip into the 50's, but even at lowest it appears to be dipping into the 30's & 40's which is utterly ridiculous!

Well I have stopped playing until they patch this game. What they have is very solid, but the main thing that they need to patch is the checkpoints. Has hot been a major problem to me thus far, however on the orphanage level, I silently and very professionally took out all the guys on the top floor so had free rein to go between the two stairs down to get some good scouting and distraction of guards. Hit the check point and then on restarting the entire upstairs re-appeared like I had never been.

Absolutely dire bug to have missed and it needs matching asap. Anyone know IO have commented on this and whether they will patch?

Can't arsed to play if a save system is this broken; I simply do not have the time in my life to rinse repeat this game for hours on end.

Tbh that level didn't cause too much of a drop on mine

Not sure if possible, theres a police station level and the fps drops to like 40's with just a statue and some light in the middle of the room yet you can get constant 60 in an open level, seems bad coding or something in the engine / levels / gfx drivers

I run at 19290x1200, setting are:

MSAA x2

FXAA - On

Shadow Quality - Ultra

Texture Quality - High

Texture Filer - A 16x

Refelctions - High

Global Illumination - On

Tesselation - On

Level of Detail - Ultra

Depth of Feild - High

SSAO - Normal

On benchamark I get:

Max - 103
Min 46
Average 56

Playing the game im usually rock solid 60fps with the occasional small dip.

Oh and im running the latest Beta Nvidia drivers, that Nvidia say are for Hitman - 310.61

Yep, I do that too. Sometimes I'm just too lazy to restart the level at the end of it though! It's a good way to scope out the map so you can get it right in one go though.
