Live facial-recognition cameras were deployed in two crime hotspots close to mainline train stations Croydon, south London, on the afternoons of December 7 and 14, catching 17 suspects in the space of a few hours.


On December 14, the cameras identified 22 people who were on the Metropolitan Police’s wanted list. Of those, ten people were arrested for offences including threats to kill, domestic abuse offences, theft, bank fraud and knife crime.

wouldn't a side passport photo help for recognition ? ... hopefully cameras are Chineseium

Just posted mine and the wife's off after renewing online. I guess we'll hear something in the new year.

On the topic of passports being stamped: ours were this summer when we went to Madeira.

Well colour me impressed. New passports arrived in the post this morning, so exactly a week after filling in the online form and sending old ones off. Two of those "working days" were Christmas and Boxing day.

photo rejected elbows too pointy shadows beneath ears their dam AI system to pre-triage photos said it was fine though

do any places even stamp passports anymore.

My old one was literally 0 stamps and I must have presented it at a passport check 20-30+ times

If you do not have an EU/EEA/CH within Schengen, yes they do.

I have 21 passport stamps since Brexit.

I forgot to travel with my UK passport and I was pulled aside and had to wait for them to run checks to make sure I was eligible to return to the UK. Oops!

I used normal mail and it was all done in a couple of weeks.

new passport was printed on night of 28th and healthily delivered on 29th - post office aren't all bad. - 9 working days elapsed
Now submitted renewal for driving license photocard that runs out 2Jan
