HM Passport office

I saw that headline this morning too  5 weeks of strikes! Very few workers could afford 5 weeks being unpaid!

On the flip side, its only 25% of the workforce actually striking. We'll see what (if any) difference it makes. Large parts of the process are surely fully automated now?

The Union has enough cash (generated from a member whip round) to pay them all in full for the lost wages

Is it 5 weeks straight or various days of strikes over the 5 weeks.
If it’s the former, that’s just bonkers, there is striking and then there is just taking the ******* ****.

Get a 2nd passport, then you'll have one with a completely different expiry date, years after the first one.

Also useful when you need to surrender a passport for errr... reasons.

You cannot receive a new one without returning the old one... Unless you state the first is lost, which will remove it from the system. When they scan it at the airport, will it not appear as expired.

If issues, then get dual citizenship and you can have a 3rd passport. I'm sure everyone has a bit of Irish or Polish in them these days :D

Then ultd travel and/work within the EU without the Schengen days malarky.

Renewal done online last night, picture taken myself so hopefully ok, old passport sent by 1st class recorded today - let's see how long this takes then.
TNT just delivered my passport, 13 days turnaround, using the regular service, quite impressed, that's quicker than the last time I did it when we didn't have passport problems :D

Got our 2 kids ones arriving today.
Had to send their birth certificates off too which delayed it abit.

Took around 3 weeks.
Holiday was already booked.
Phew

What turnaround are folks seeing on online passport renewals ?

updating driving license photo with it's renewal ?
seems that if you do this online, using a passport, you have to use existing (old) passport photo,
or if you do it by post (pay more) you can send a photo, but they will scan it (poorly) themselves.

My passport needs renewing soon anyway, where I could send a new digital photo, and then renew driving license.
however may not be returned before driving license runs out, so may have to abstain from driving for a week - hmmh

If you submitted a passport renewal recently - what's the wait time like ?

I renewed mine about a month ago online and got the new one in the same week (I sent my old one off immediately RMSD). 4 day turnaround and it wasn't even an emergency application. Very impressed.

I mean I don't care about being wrong, but I challenge you to find a single website that says you don't have to send back the old one or that your allowed 2 passports without applying to own a second with special exceptions like you suggest.
It's hardly like the second option is what I would have been suggesting with a common passport/traveller.

That’s not what you said? you said “You cannot receive a new one without returning the old one... Unless you state the first is lost,” this is false

Legally, British nationals can possess two passports.

The second document is called a concurrent passport, and is fairly common for business partners to employ.

As stated above some countries won't let you in, Iran & Lebanon for example, if you have an Israeli stamp in your passport.
