Does anyone know if the voltage can be unlocked with these? I have 2 Powercolor 7950s and the voltage seemed to be locked on those. I could change it by flashing a custom bios. Can you do the same with these?

Well I'm happy to say that I've just received my 280x!

However upon installing it and firing up valley / skyrim, I am sad to report that it whines like nothing I have ever heard!

Unless it fixes itself - known to happen sometimes - I am afraid that I will have to send it back!
The only reason I bought it (apart from the epic price) was that this thing is supposed to be whisper quiet.

Really dissapointed, such an epic card otherwise!

Fan wine or coil wine?

If coil wine, leave it running a benchmark or game for 24hrs, see it if it settles down. Also ensure its being powered by two separate rails as well, sometimes helps if your PSU is struggling a little with it.

Mine arrived today too....running as I type...when I move the cursor around it "whines" not sure it is fan noise, more like coil, it is at full load.

Also, Gibbo if you are around and have time...I am having a B grade case nightmare....ordered, was told to cancel but re-order and check this morning....still "Order Status: Printed in our warehouse" This has been going on since Boxing day Apparently the warehouse doesn't know what stock you have.....so my HAF X isn't progressing.

I Picked up mine on saturday from the shop and its been whisper quiet since installing it, no whining etc.. its that quiet i can only here my cpu fan. thanks ocuk great deal.

It's definitely coil whine.

I tried it in my other machine with a tx650 and the same thing happened.
Put it back in my main system with an hx650 with each power plug on a different cable and the same thing happened.

It's now back in its original config and looping unigine valley, hopefully it will have fixed itself by the morning!

Mine came today, had a little whine at first. I was worried I'd have to send it back but it stopped after like 5-10 minutes of bf4.

I'm afraid that after 24 hours of Valley and 18 hours of the Crysis 2 main menu with V-sync off, it looks like the whining is not going away, it's by far the worst I've ever heard.
Sorry OCUK, I'm going to have to send it back, thank goodness for the 14 day satisfaction guarantee!

Tempted to shoot for the 780 gaming instead of just getting another 280X, if it's a common problem for 280X cards.
...or maybe the 280X Toxic?

EDIT: Just ordered a replacement Gaming edition, hoping not to get a whiner this time!

Tried to order the 280X this morning as soon as my wages cleared into my account but missed it by seconds lol, I'm sure OcUK hate me as I was away for Xmas so missed it then too lol.
