*** Holidays & Travels 2023 Thread ***

Just cancelled flights to Vanuatu, was supposed to be there over Easter. They've had two Cyclones and an earthquake through there last week. I did feel like I wanted to support the people a bit by still going but the Mrs isn't keen. Shame as I was looking forward to it and its such a short hop from here. Daytime flights both ways too which is both unusual and favourable.

Just booked an all inclusive holiday to Crete for the beginning of May. Never been to an all inclusive and never been to Crete. Could be awful, but my holidays are always busy, I go to two-four places in a week and never very relaxing and really fancied a week doing very little so giving it a go…

Any tips? Dispatch her at 4am to book the sun loungers, avoid the shellfish at the buffet, don’t expect the Russians to queue, etc etc.

Getting really tired of emailing hotels and asking if they are able to cater to my sons Sesame allergy (life threatening) - about 25 emails sent and not a single reply over the last 5 days, not one. I'd appreciate a short few lines back even just to say it's not possible.

These are all highly rated places as well that i've already been on TA, searched reviews for 'allergy' and seen people commenting on them being receptive and accommodating.

I'm at a point atm where i'm absolutely deflated and considering a staycation at the ridiculous UK prices, at least this way we have total control over his intake.

Flying to Mallorca Sunday (late)

Renting a car and staying in Cales de Mallorca, but there's not a huge amount to do there.

Any recommendations for where to drive to? I don't mind going about an hour each way.

I can explore Palma on the final day as we are flying back late again then

We've cancelled our Santorini honeymoon booking and we have booked a cruise with Virgin Voyages instead. Significant staff discount swayed that for us, and we'll use the days we have off in September to go to Ireland or similar.

Managed to get flights to Cancun at the weekend for £600/each with extra legroom included - also booked a condo on VRBO at a little over £1000 for a week - first holiday for 7 years, can't wait.

We're going to be staying on the island of Cozumel for the week, condo has it's own stretch of beach for the complex and a few pools. Told our lad last night and he can't wait to get his first chance at snorkelling, has a reef right off the beach where we're staying.

We were looking at the Canaries but prices for Cozumel are working out virtually the same, just 4.5hrs of extra fight time each way.

Just putting a few finishing touches to our Summer holiday at end of August.

Friday: Driving ~Chester to near Dunkirk catching a late eurotunnel booking
Saturday: Driving Dunkirk to Stuttgart
Sunday: AM Porsche Museum, the driving to Bregenz and going to the Opera in the evening (looks quite spectacular with an open air theatre built afloat Lake Konstanz)
Monday: Bregenz to Steinbach am Attersee via Neuschwanstein Castle
Tuesday->Sunday AM at Steinbach am Attersee., seeing the sites i.e Salzburg, the lakes in the area - plenty of swimming!, Hallstatt, Grossglockner, 5 Fingers Obertraun
Sunday AM -> Driving up through Germany via the Eagles Nest to Bonn for a night
Monday: Drive from Bonn to Bruges and spend afternoon in Bruges
Tuesday: Spend morning in Bruges to catch a late afternoon Eurotunnel and back up to ~Chester

Going to be a mission on the big driving days, but nothing we havn't done previously. Last year we did England -> Annecy -> Annecy -> Lake Konstanz -> Back via Black Forest to Metz -> Metz back to Chester and managed that alright.

Can't wait, so much to see! Don't think we will be driving so much next year, request has already come in for a quieter resort type holiday...booo.
