Anyone running on docker? Any tips on transferring an existing Pi installation to it? Struggling to get it to restore anything, and no idea what to do with z2m as you can't install addons inside docker container directly
Hmm OK, do you use a VM? On windows or linux? From personal experience as much as I like docker, I wouldn't run HA on it, it just seems such a pain vs a VM.
But with things like Z2M you'll have to run it as an additional container and point HA to it.
Yeah I use a VM. On the HA site there's premade images for different hyper visors. I run it under ESXi, it's completely hassle free.Hmm OK, do you use a VM? On windows or linux?
OK, I'm such a noob at all this VM and docker stuff (never having used either). RPi works so easily but it's getting slow now I thinkYeah I use a VM. On the HA site there's premade images for different hyper visors. I run it under ESXi, it's completely hassle free.

3B+, so only 1GB RAM. I have a NUC to use so won't bother upgrading to a Pi4 as they are £100+ anyway! Is it an Rpi4? If so then paired with an SSD it should be plenty good enough.

It runs a screen in the hallway which is just HA dashboard.. I'd quite like to retain that functionality as a Pi 3 I don't think will run the dashboard well as it has RTSP cameras showing. Hence my thinking was to run Ubuntu or windowsAh fair! Is the NUC doing anything else currently? If not then run it bare metal or run a hypervisor on it.
Great idea Andy! Just as well I've got a magnetic cover!! I might add that to the list!Nice work Katie
Not sure if it interests you, but you can rip the battery out of them and wire 5v up to the battery circuit board and run them without the battery to save on any potential issues I've done it with two now, a HD10 and a HD8. I figured I'd rather not have the worry of the inevitable battery swelling. And one less fire risk attached to the wall is always a bonus
