Home made case

You've done yourself proud there mate :) , nice one I'm glad its taking shape and your happy with it. Nice job with the polishing its looking great. On a side note is it any good the rivet gun you got from ebay?, I'm thinking of getting one myself for a project I'm working on. If the 1200 grit is scratching the surface then try 2000 grit, i think that is the lowest, also the guy in that link i put up used baby oil with the wet & dry i bet that is to stop it scratching the finish.

Looks very nice.

But what frame are you going to use? Are you going to have metal support bars going down and across?

Whats the design on the front?

Thanks.

Yes, I have some solid aluminium bars to run down the side, with the mobo tray fixed secure ontop.

I should be getting 1 x aluminium h/drive cage with 120mm fan for this case aswell.

As for the front design, I am still not sure. One thing I do know, it will be inspired by the v1000+ .:) Providing I can work the mesh the way I want it.

Its ok, you can tell it's "much cheapness" from the handles that keep falling off but It seems to work fine though which is the main thing. :)

In the last bit it seriously if you had not said anything looks like you have made steel threads to protect the casing, and provide a better grip for the fan and PSU.

You had to open your mouth :p

Looking very nice indeed, although the cost seems a bit on the pricey side to me!

It just show's how good value the likes of the PC7+ cases are. In a way I am regretting it, but one thing I am trying to do is personalise in anyway I can so atleast in someways it would have been worth it. :)

If you have done it well, at the end you should have a nice re-sale value.

Yeh you have a unique case, which is great, but considering like you say the price and quality of the PC7+, the saving on time and headache, I would have got one of thoose and modded it a bit :p

Nothing to special I know but a full case build, to me, seems like more trouble than it is worth, I can only do certain things with tools, and most of the things I would need to know for building a case I would have to learn, mind I am pretty good with finnishes :D

Don't say that. Why regret it? It's looking excellent so far and I can't wait to see the finished product! Keep it up :D

Big case company's like LL make thousands of cases and buy the materials in bulk thus they are a lot cheaper than we can source them, doesn't mean there good value, although LL are good. I don't think you should regret it, it looks like its going to be a nice case and that fact you have made it yourself should give you a big sense of achievement. Plus you can show it of to all your mates. Its usually the finishing touches that bring it to life.

ok, make use of this deleted post and re-ammend. :D

Waiting on an aluminium mobo tray and thermaltake aluminium h/drive cage and attatched 120mm fan.

Not much else done really, although I'm sure this is going to have to lead to another PC build with the spares I have. I am soo tempted to buy a lian-li v1000+ its not funny.

Update on the build, not much done really but I'll show you what I've done anyway.

I am fixing the mobo tray in place so removed the back plate

Got the holes drilled for riveting the mobo tray in place

Then riveted the panel in place

Thats pretty much all I've managed to do and as you can probably tell its a little rough around the edges, theres some trimming to be done but once i've got the chassis built up in exactly the way I want it, its time to drill out the rivets and smooth and polish everything up. Although Quite a bit away from that though at the minute. :)

I have to say, it is much higher quality than I was expecting! Looks like a good build - please keep it up an keep us updated :)

Yeh the quality from the pictures seems to show a very fine job.

Keep up the same standard and you should have something to be proud of at the end! :D

getting there, with the chassis anyway.

Keeping it simple inside with 5.25 bays top to bottom to house 1 x DVD drive, h/drives, res and pump. :)
