Homosexual Colours

Being gay should be encouraged.

Image 99% of men were gay, there would be no wars, supermarket quiches wouldn't be terrible, and for the remaining 1% that were not gay, image all the women....

It's also very quickly sort out world over population.
Won't all 99% of the women also be gay?
Your maths don't work how you think they do.

Homosexuality was legalised in the UK in 1967. Wasn't that long ago really.

It's particularly shameful that Alan Turing committed suicide due to how he was treated.

This is so true. Supermarket quiches are terrible and are increasing in price like no ones business. Im all for this idea.

Did we have gay colours then too? Were they hunting out our young and Zazzing them up?

Actually gay meant something entirely different back then, we were all gay young things with flowers in our hair in the summer of love.

I'm part of the LGBT+ community and I can honestly say that people who are offended by colours are some of the most pent up homos you can imagine.

Think "I have a family and kids and all with a position high up in the super conservative government but that male waiter is super cute" kinda of thing.

Honestly, the use of the rainbow flag is to be inclusive to say EVERYONE is welcome and we consider EVERYONES position in the world but people think that somehow the homos have stolen it.

throwaway4372 I wish we didn't need to have pride marches and make it a point to be LGBT+ inclusive but since you will still be spat upon by some hateful bigot in the city centre for holding another mans hand, we still have to make an effort to be inclusive.

Throwaway, I honestly think that most companies jumping on the LGBT+ train are just there for the good publicity and don't give a flying toss about actually making a difference to my or other peoples lives.

Edit: This is a serious problem here in Belfast https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/belfast-news/concern-over-hate-preachers-belfast-24138181

Maybe something productive can come from this...
I don't encounter any of those issues IRL, I only see rainbows everywhere and people saying "be inclusive".
That doesn't really mean anything to me because I was never excluding people to begin with, so nothing is achieved.
For people who were against you to begin with, seeing rainbows isn't going to achieve anything there either.
There must be a better way to go about it - so that people understand why you're campaigning and feel some sympathy for that.

A bit of a side note - most people understand a flag as representing a country, and the use of the flag represents marking your territory, and has strong military association. It's not unreasonable to interpret the Pride flag as an attempt to dominate a space, which is going to immediately put people on the defensive, so it might be counter-productive to use a flag. When people see the colours used, even if it's not on a flag, they still interpret that as a flag.

This is what really gets me. I'm all for people protesting for what they believe in but there are so many hypocritical grifters in it to make money. Same with BLM etc. When my company announced that they would be flying their flag at Pride, all I could think was that the marketing department must be patting themselves on the back for that one.

Yup...apparently it's a thing. Colours can be gay. How can a country/religion be so insecure?!

I do however find it wired and creepy that the gay community has appropriated the rainbow which until a couple of decades ago were mostly attributed to children's things. Either they did this because they feel the need to infantilize themselves or they want to appeal to children.

There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, trouble is the nearer you think you are in fact you are no closer.
