Mat said:When I did my degree, we were awarded the BSc at the end of the course (assuming we passed) but were given the Hons if we had successfully completed and passed a dissertation. That was all there was to it...
Degree = Degree
Degree + Dissertation = Hons Degree.

At some universities it is. At Bristol they don't normally give ordinary degrees. If you don't get the grades to get at least a 3rd they just fail you under normal circumstances.
