Hoodies

It feels like it sometimes. ;)

So you're saying people from diferent races to you, diferent classes and of diferent age groups don't pay taxes? Wow racism, age and class discrimination in one sentence - must be some sort of record.

Alternatively he could just be a member of the silent majority who are sick to death of morons in hoodies terrorising their everyday lives. Anyway, what is so bad about being white, middle aged and middle class? Or TAXPAYERS as they are often called.

Wow, banning clothes because you are constantly beaten up by kids in hoodies (the only reasoning I can see behind your 'ban 'em all' cries). Unless you are going along with the gormless hysteria... but I am sure you are not that naive...

So, what is wrong with being white, middle class and middle aged?

Amongst all the attacks on me no one has yet given an answer. I am sorry to burst all of your bubbles but the majority of money raised in taxes comes from that particular group of people. The world is not all arts groups, urban poetry and focus groups for the poor disaffected youth. In fact, the only racism I see on a daily basis is that purpetrated by ethnic groups and the politically correct liberal elite against the hardworking, taxpaying, white people of this country.

What that has to do with hoodies is anyones guess but I didn't bring race into it.

Being old I can see where Singist is coming from.
I was at Trentham Gardens on tuesday and it was about 32 degrees and three lads with their hoods up came walking past
On wednesday I went up town and again it was smoldering but still young lads had got their hoods up.
I have hoodies even at my age but they only come up when its raining or I'm sitting down the Britannia Stadium and the cold wind is whistling around my lobes.

Baseball caps should be banned as well. Unless you are playing baeball, which we don't, so there is no need.

I seriously view anyone with a baseball cap as a moron, I can't help it now because I have seen so many morons wear them.

If someones choice of headwear is how you judge people then I dont think its cap wearers who are the morons.

This is just plain stupid. *Everyone* wears hoodies sometimes. I see hundreds of people a day wearing 'Durham University' hoodies. How many of them are gangsters???

Ive worn my hood up in australia in the blistering heat...simply because I dont want to burn horribly and die of skin cancer.

I did qualify my argument by saying I have only ever seen morons wearing them, so that is what I think. I am sure, somewhere on the planet, but I have yet to see them, there is a baseball cap wearing person that isn't. I just haven't seen them yet. ;)

I wear hoodies and im proud..

Im not a skater, a goth, any of these stupid highschool labels..Im just a normal mid 20s guy...ive never committed a crime, im not wanted by the police..

Hoodies are comfortable SPORTS WEAR and thats how I wear them..Theyre great if its too cold for a tshirt and too hot for a proper jacket..theyre perfect middle range clothing..

How do you know youve only ever seen morons wearing them? Have you introduced yourself to every person youve ever seen wearing a hood? How do you know they were morons? Because they were wearing a hoodie?

I also wear a baseball cap on occasion...So do millions of others..Am I a moron?

Shut up Mohinder...Lets all just let him dictate what we wear...Its the right thing to do.

Sorry, just got back ....

As many have said, just because one wears a hoodie doesn't make you a thug.

My question was; given that ther is such a bad reputation for people wearing 'em, why would you carry on wearing one if you are an ordinary guy/gal ?

I'm sorry but the "I don't give a **** what you old people think" still leaves us with the stereotype in most people's minds.

Unfortunately, I do judge people wearing their hoodies up as thugs, as do many, many more ordinary (older) people.

One guy jogging past in the appropriate "sports gear" wearing his hoodie is one thing ........ half a dozen or more young people standing around or wandering along with their hoodies up is something else.

I've just been out front with just my shorts on, its not roasting but it certainly isn't cold and two hoodies walked past. There is no way on this planet they are hot or cold so they're only wearing them up for one reason - fashion (which intimidates).

However, I went to Trentham Gardens computer fair this morning and it was hot.
I only saw one other bloke besides me wearing shorts and t-shirt and every other person had trousers, jeans and a thick coat on - old people hey, why do they wear thick coats in summer?

I can't get over the fact that kids still wear burberry when its universally hated.

because not everyone has their choice of clothes dictated by childish stereotypes...

Ive never had a problem with my hoodies..Nobody has ever said anything to me about them...

Im sure that your generation also had its 'bad clothes' that the older people said you shouldnt wear...and im sure you didnt give a damn.

I wear a hoodie most days, even sometimes at work now(when it isn't too hot so it would be a t-shirt) because the office I work in for the summer(filled with ordinary middle aged people) don't bother what I wear to work provided I can do the job. I can't say I was aware of a particularly bad reputation associated with them and I doubt it will change the liklihood of me wearing them, they are just comfortable and good for most occasions.

I can agree that for certain occasions they aren't suitable and I will dress up accordingly but I'm not dressing to impress really and what my mates do or don't wear doesn't affect me much. For the record I almost never wear the hood up even if it is raining but then I don't like wearing hats in the rain either.
