HOPEFULLY LESS THAN A YEAR WAIT: New 2018 (MY18) S550.2 Mustang V8 10-speed ordered

Didn’t realise your selling your stang, thought you were going to keep both and the m3?

Why would I want two Mustangs? Sell this one get next one, if S650 is a hit probably sell next one for that, but no point in having very similar cars on the drive as can only drive one at a time.

Yeah it makes sense. Sure I read in a post you were going to keep both. Maybe I misread. Will you be taking the bits of the current one to put onto the new one?

If I get close to 40k, I will let mine go with all mods though I've already sold all the Shelby GT350 power stuff to another Mustang owner.
MY18 gets mag ride option so am taking that, so don't need coilovers, will probably just get the Ford GT 350 lowering springs, will probably keep my cradle lockout and uprated rear top mounts though if I put my current one mostly back to stock as they can go to new one.

Wheels will keep if I don't sell as I like them better than the Ford offerings or just buy another set, but that is it only real mods I fancy doing to new one are GT 350R brakes, GT 350R rear seat delete, GT 350 rear wing, headers and a tune.

No 5.2L crate drop in on the cards then ??

Not worth it, by the time I've shipped the engine over, had it fitted and custom tuned I'd not have much change from 20k, admittedly rocking around 600HP NA would be pretty epic, but in the real world it would be hardly any quicker than the stock car with 550HP NA, so it would be 20k down the drain, I'd rather drop 20k on another car like an E60 M5 or just go and do a load more crazy holidays again next year. :D

Or do both!

Just booked a driving holiday next year through Germany as can't really do NC500 a third time but will do again, plenty of Autobahns to go flying on in my new Mustang, NOW THATS A HOLIDAY, just do both! :D

Shall probably be back in US in January, Korea, Taiwan and Thailand in May/June, then driving in Germany trip, also gonna go to South of Italy for end of Summer next year too and whatever other opportunities crop up. :)

good beer in Germany too, great countryside.............Madeira and Sicily are great for cars too, as is Lake Garda........but lake Garda is brilliant for hiring powerboats most of all, i love the sound of a V8 powerboat, man it's noisy..you can hear it 5 miles away.

i'll probably return to Madeira at Xmas, their roads are fantastic and they have quite a few rally cars too, the U.K is a total disaster now for driving, i'd much rather live in Italy or Sicily/madeira.

i tried to find the price of your car today but failed............ can you let me know its price ?

Its avertised on PH and Ebay at 39k, if I don't get close to that within next month or two I shall simply put it back mostly to stock within reason and let it go for low 30's. :)

If you want to buy it, come round to my house with cash, don't talk in this thread and de-rail, not interested in timewasters or tyre kickers, only interested in punters with real cash and the means to buy now or soon. :)

NO NO NO.............the new 2018 mustang, i'm not interested in yours

Should be announced end of next week or early following week. Expecting V8 with no options to be 39-42k, 44-50k with options in short is my guess.

- 10-speed: £1500
- Magnetic ride: £1500
- Recaros: £1500
- Custom Packs: £950 - £1950 each (Shaker, NAV, Forged wheels, leather console etc)
- Spoiler - £495
- Painted roof: £500

My guess on the main options costing, remember digital dash, active exhaust is standard fit.

Quite liking the idea of this stripe:

Black roof looks good, black mirrors and black spoiler be spot on, prefer my current spoiler though so will probably de-option that and save money and buy the one on my current car.

The shot of the red one creeping out of the garage looks fantastic, which red is that? Also, which model/option gets the quad exhausts

Race red.

All export models come with active exhaust, which has quad tips and has following modes:
- Quiet
- Normal
- Sport
- Track
- Custom: You can set times where the exhaust will default to quiet automatically so no loud cold starts at 5am for example.

Guys here who like the more technical side and enjoy tuning might find this video interesting.
MY18 base calibrations are out and already available for those of us that have HP Tuners, as such you can start tuning now.

If you download the HP tuning suite, then grab the MY18 A10 file of the HP forums you can have a play around yourself.

Here is a video also from Alex talking about tuning:

As you can see the A10 has a lot more adjustment available compared to A6, though to be honest I would advice anyone tuning an A6 or A10 to go with a true custom tuner like Palm Beach dyno who will take a stock base file and write you a tune from the ground up. Because I absolutely dislike the tunes that mess with DBW, throttle maps and the automatic boxes, for me all that should remain stock. The only aspect of the car I want tuning is VCT, Spark, fuelling, cam angles etc. to create the additional power and a slightly higher rev limit, say 8000rpm for safety.

Also note on the MY18 the rev limit is now as rumoured, 7500RPM from factory, so it seems the new modified manifold for the new injection started like as the GT 350 manifold, so in short the MY18 is a modified 350 intake, stock throttle body, slightly re-designed intake tube and a stock air box to make the 460HP. Expect around 500HP from a good tuner like Palm Beach, Lund etc. with relative ease and safety.

Also note how the active exhaust can also be tuned and is completely variable, so you can tune it by load, by gear, by RPM which is great that Ford allow manipulation over the exhaust setup.

You can also see as predicted the A10 has block shifting, so it can do 1-3, 3-5 etc. on lighter throttle inputs when in wet or normal modes. Seems sport, race and drag mode lock out block shifting.

So in short, higher RPM (7500), the engine flows a lot more air and the A10/Active exhaust can be fine tuned and adjusted if you see fit, though for me the A10 shall be left completely stock, unless I find something I particular dislike about its shifting strategy or firmness.

First dealer car arrives:

I am pretty blown away with how good that looks, totally gorgeous car and thats the baby ecoboost version, just black the mirrors and that is spot on!
Loving the orange, very happy with my choice of colour. :D

looks really nice in red , better front grill with those angled inserts???

Unknown if that is standard and they all have them, if not just a case of changing out upper and lower grill as bumper is same, a common modification on the current MY15 model.

Only available on the manual...? Seems odd.

It is essentially a track and drivers focused package, hence the 305 section cup tyres, 3.73 manual, cloth or leather recaro, no digital dash etc. All about lap times, though in theory the 10-speed would be quicker but that goes against a drivers car.

Not an option I would choose as I want the A10 and digital dash. The only part I want for my car is the front splitter and GT 350 lowering springs, shall order those from Ford USA and get Ford UK to fit them for me which they now do. :)

To me that PP2 package takes away a lot of what the Mustang is about, a road car that is lol fun, by making it more track orientated. Seems odd but no doubt some Americans will love that.

Just to compete with Camaro 1LE package, track days is a big thing in the US, just like the UK and Ford / GM like to offer packages that essentially make a car more geared towards track driving.
Though I think they have missed an opportunity by not making the 10-speed auto still an option, but I guess Ford are not so interested in lap times, whereas GM are a bit more motivated by ring times and all that.

Also Mustang's have always being about track performance, they are huge for it, BOSS 302 is still very famous and a car that was a huge success, they have a long history of track focused Mustangs, but more about the driving and enjoyment of track driving, not necessarily lap times though the BOSS 302 was hugely quick on track.

@Gibbo I think that's the American mindset and simply something I can't understand. Not saying it's a problem with them - more likely an issue with me! If I was tracking on a regular basis I think I'd be looking at a very different type of car (I'm looking at you Cayman S or even the likes of an MX-5). I have no doubt the Mustang performs exceptionally well but I just don't think (opinion again) that it's the optimum solution and to me is just a sheer awesome performance road car.

Saying that I've never tried one around a track so I'm happy to be told I'm full of crap by a fella who has :p

No different than say Porsche with GT cars, the regular ones go round track fine, the GT's go even better.
Or Mercedes with Black series AMG cars.
Or BMW with M cars

I guess the point is people buy a Mustang track edition, just like they buy a Porsche GT or an AMG Black, its hugely fast on the road but its very capable on track and will beat a lot of track dedicated stuff.

Saying that I took my Mustang on track when I first had it and it was shocking how good it was, very competent in the corners, a lot more so than I expected and that was before I went wild with the car. :D
