Horror games

I started amnesia dark descent a few days ago. I haven't played enough of it to get into the scary bits yet, but based on what everyone says, I've bought some new underwear.
Doom3 was a game I seriously was too scared to play at first, I literally had to exit the game at the first sign of impending horror as it went into darkness for the first time. But once I got used to it, it was great.:p
 
Aliens Versus Predator 2 (2001). Playing as a Marine in the dark with headphones on.. eeek! I had to keep looking behind myself.
 
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is THE horror game of all horror games!

Second to that the Silent Hill series are haunting - hell of a lot better than Resi Evil IMO.
 
apart from whats already been mentioned i can only think of thief deadly shadows.

the later levels are almost guaranteed to turn your underwear brown, especially robbing the cradle.

can be had for about £2 from a certain rainforest. i believe it was on sale on steam recently too

Currently playing this, it's pretty good, looks dated but nice story/atmosphere/setting and i think it's £5.99 or so on Steam.

Completed Cryostasis, was decent and i think the metascore was low because of the performance issues that existed for a fair while.(i would give it 7/10 myself but was worth the fiver i paid for it however i swear it was like £2.50 or something in xmas sale)
 
Not worth £20 - it's not a bad game though (there's some quite interesting environment interaction such as getting a rag, setting it on fire, chucking petrol over the monsters and then burning them).

It's not bad but they made some bits very arcadey and that put me off. Though it does look fantastic at times.

I finished Amnesia and it was pretty good but just got to repetative for me.

Id like to re visit Resident Evil 1 and 2 but im not sure about compatibility on Windows 7

Fully agree. Back when the game first came out I had to physically stop playing after completing the second level as the marine lol. You have to go into the alien hive to find your friend whos supposedly still alive and you can imagine what happens then. So tense and eerie whilst you are making your way there and all hell breaks loose when your inside and you have to just run back to the start with aliens coming out of everywhere lol.
 
FEAR one is still decent to play through providing your sitting alone in the dark :) I did enjoy cold fear aswell not too sure if it works on windows 7 tho. Also anyone remember a game called The Suffering? i thought it was a pretty decent game with some scares :)

a few others to note doom 3 and the addon and maybe The Thing?
