Here is mine, pretty bare as i have only just got back into linux after a few years, so have no clue what to install.

not sure why people change to linux saying "I'm fed up with windows etc" and then make linux look exactly the same
Because Linux =/= your window manager?
I like the look of Windows just fine. It's the stuff underneath that bugs me.

I ensure my theme looks as little as any offering from Redmond as possible.

For Trifid and his button woes, not sure it works anymore though. Best bet is to just use a better desktop theme.

Don't know 1 or 2, but 3 and 4 you just click on the panel and you can edit it as you see fit; add or remove any icons you like.

You can drag the panels anywhere you like.
Just left click and hold and drag.
you can also delete panels via the right mouse button but be warned.. If you ever shrink a window you will be scratching your head to get it back.. It's usually around that time you discover ctrl + tab !!
