I've only been out once since the ban but I didn't see any major drop in numbers.
There seemed to be this myth put around (I'm assuming by the smokers) that once the ban came into effect that because they would all stop going out the pubs would be empty.
The truth is that smoking was already considered anti-social and antiquated before the ban - their numbers were never actually as high as they would like you to believe.
As to the places where people are still being allowed to smoke - If/when I go in one I'll simply report it.
It's not as if the people in authority will then warn the landlord before making the spot-check and then fining/closing the place down.
