How can i fix this?

Another update,
Ive updated every driver for my graphics card and my bios to the latest one ive just finished doing that now im going to play a game of bf3 quickly and see if it shuts down again ill be back with an update in 10 mins

Okay even with everything updated, and yes my ram is working fine it still shut down

Does it only shup down when playing games? As bledd said, dust could be in the fins of your cpu and gpu cooler, behind fans ect that you couldn't see. If the problem was due to high temps whilst playing games, then that's where I'd start.

You could stress test your gpu and cpu and see if it crashes under high load..

Ive just given them a good blow to clear dust out, my pc has dust but its not covered like most, ive tried to clear as much dust out, on page 1 you can see the temps im getting on my pc.

Okay as i type this ive been doing a stress test on my CPU and FPS with HeavylLoad, and so far its 3:30sec done and no crash with 100% cpu usage and around 2900fps im going to stop it at the 4th min and use FurMark to do my gpu and ill post the results

Okay IMPORTANT UPDATE MAYBE FOUND THE REASON!!??
So i stressed my CPU and it was fine
next i downloaded FurMark and it was going fine i was getting around 50-55FPS but i could see the tempt in Celsius went up to 101c and it shut down, i did it twice and on furmark it shut down my pc both time, so whats that mean? ive taken the side pannel off to have a steady airflow and my bedroom window is open so my room is cold and ive blew in the GPU fans to clean and there spinning fine

your on latest amd drivers and the hotfix? I remember someone saying you need that

EDIT: furmark will bake any gpu

but it might help to blow out the fan on the 7970 and or uscrew the fan heatsink and re paste it with mx4

download gpu-z and click the render test, with catalyst control centre open so you can see the gpu temps, see how hot it gets then

click on the ? next to pcie on gpu-z

as for current driver versions I have no idea if all those are uptodate

Okay im doing the render and so far my pc hasent shut down been doing it for over 3 mins now and im looking at the temp on GPU-z and its at 80c

it should be fine if its stable with the render test

I never like using furmark its far to aggressive

why not uninstall 8gb of your ram and just test with 8gb installed? see if it still does it

But doing furmark that made my pc shut down so is my graphics card ******?
because the shut down only happens when gaming no other time i can watch movies ful lscreen everything fine with no problems

You may not see all the dust or remove it just from blowing...

Why oh why do people post such large images?

Edit: Cheers for editing pic

How old is the card? Does the pc get very dusty inside? If not then it could be a faulty card!

Pc is coming up to 3 years old and the problems only been happening past week, it gets dusty but not very not like them pics with big clumps everywhere

furmark might shut pc down due to it overheating the gpu,its just a horrid program to use

normal gaming shouldn't overheat the card like furmark will,it was fine in gpu-z render test?

its could be a degrading psu aswell, extra strain put on it when gaming idk till you can test with replacement ect, same for gpu or memory

Little update, i left my pc for a little bit loaded up Battlefiend 3 this time i managed to play a full game and its loading the 2nd now and still no shut down so fingers crossed on GPU-Z my GPU Temp is at 80c is that okay? it sometimes goes down to 77 and sometimes got to 82 but is that temp fine? hold now my temps at 69c lol its just going down but anyways what is a fine temp? ill keep updated if it shuts down again
