How did you get your job?

I got my original job via the job centre, somewhat suprisingly for a graduate. Later I applied for another position within the company which is what I'm doing now.

By being leet.

Seriously...I went to the interview and they went 'OMG JOOR THEH LEET!!! WORK FOR US!"""!!!"'

And I was like 'yeah, whatever.'

Then I rocked out on a guitar while boning a supermodel.

Penski on drugs?!

d)

Mums' best friends' brother owns a security company. They were looking for an office junior.

First full time job, I thought... why not.

Went for an interview (interviewed by a stranger, so totally fair), passed all the tests... interviewer was very impressed by my computer skills... I got the job.

Since I started, I've been working a lot with the IT department. No pay rise yet but I'm going to make sure I get that sorted in the near future :D

Hmm, I went around and blasted every single graduate fair. I was even getting recognised as I walked about. After passing my cv out to loads of companies my present employer got in touch and it all went from there.

Can't say I miss the whole graduate jumping through hoops thing though, eurgh. I will get some corporate IT experience at this company before moving on and so never having to touch grad recruitment again :)

I applied 3 times to my company and got rejected 3 times!!

I got a job as a temp at the company and constantly hounded the HR department with my CV for about 5 months, until they agreed to interview me. 2.5 hour interview, plus presentation, plus HR interview got me the job :D I got lucky too because I managed to skip the aptitude tests!! :D :D

started new job today.

dad works for the company, has for last 15 odd years, i applied for one job but didnt get it and then another came up so i asked for my application to be carried over and i got the job. they were only advertised internally and dont ask what it is cus its lame

Went into the shop, got a application form, filled it in, got called to the interview, got the call a few days later and there you go, got the job, first time to try and get a job, first interview:D easy peesy:p

These are the kinds of posts I enjoy reading after a couple of innocent pints... or something equally errrr, legal. :/

Missed out on all the graduate positions after travelling for a year and temped for too long after getting back.
Settled into a bloody awful permanent job for a year (expediting the installation of mobile phone masts) and after a particularly bad day I applied to fifteen jobs in the space of five days.
Out of that I was asked to 7 interviews, 4 of which I attended, 3 offered me a job. My employer at the time even made an improved offer to me, but I politely told them where they could stick it. :D

It was just like penski described tbh.

gave cv to agency, got phoned by them a week later, interview, got offered the job the same day!

I have to say I'm damn pleased by the fact that every job i've been interviewed for i've been offered. that can't last though...

d) Nepotism

Big bro was the manager of our Shetland depot, he was being sent abroad and was asked if he knew anyone who could take over from him - cue Bigstan :D

I have since migrated to the offshore side of the business as a lead engineer = longer hours, uncertain work rota but LOADS more money.

Stan :)

Similar to that, but I laid back and thought of England while she did all the hard work.

edit: I lied, I didn't even interview for my current job. They offered it me without interview and without even meeting me :P

i got my grad job after having a placement sandwich year with them.

really good salary too.

i think taking a placement year is definately the way forward, lots of people i know who had them have nearly all been offered jobs from those who they worked for.
