How Do I Convince...

ok so i'm here because i'm planning a new car for myself and while searching for info on it, your thread came up in the results. i've read the entire thing and:

1. yes they are 'posers' cars, learn to love it (maybe only ironically to start with) if you don't already

2. someone mentioned something with the phrase 'astra vs bmw' in it or something and oh boy, what a comedic suggestion

3. i hope you do get the BMW. i got my crumbly old e36 318iS coupe in similar circumstances (was considering an old celica when i was informed i could actually afford a bmw... "what's that, a bmw you say? hrmmm...") and have never looked back! in fact mostly i have looked down, down my nose that is, at everyone else, but hey i'm a fan of irony.

since when is a sub £8k 3 series a posers car? all are common as muck.

I dont understand how they are posers car, i see more of them in a day than a lot of other cars, they certainly aint rare enough to be eye catching, and the majority of the times the drivers dont care about anything other than themselves, never mind trying to attract totty off the streets.
 
ok admittedly a sub 8 grand 3 series isn't going to be literally considered as a posers car, but the badge is still seen by many as meaning you think you're All Of That, which is what i mean.
 
Most of the general public don't know how much cars are worth and still judge cars based on badges. We all know better, we all know what a sub £8k 3 Series looks like but most people don't.
