How do I fix DHCP issues in Vista?

Probably not the best solution that will be offered, but if you can't fix the problems you're experiencing then try another web browser e.g. Opera or Firefox.

But as I say I'm only offering a last ditch solution.. :)

View status of the connection then click diagnose - then choose from get new IP or reset connection.

Virtually everytime i wake the PC from sleep i have to do this. Could be router settings of course but i forgot my password :)

I've tried that before, same problem.

It says the connection is fine.

You realise there is a little button to reset your router to its original password?

Yer but it also resets all the connection settings. My router came pre-configured by Demon. Could be a bit of hassle getting it back.

Does the Internet and your LAN work? If so I don't see how it can be a DHCP issue

Is IE just giving DNS errors or something?

The internet works, but only when accessed through "Welcome to Vista > Conntect to the Internet" where it tells me I'm already connected and asks if I want to surf...

If I start IE then no. I can download update, just not browse.

ah i having this problem now. its say my connection is fine and connected to the internet. my vista sidebar's radio and weather forcast works fine..but just cant use internet explorer, firefox or outlookexpress.

im writing this on 2nc pc.

tried manually entering dns settings? (you should be able to get your isp's dns ip's from the routers control panel, if 192.168.1.1 doesn't work, then enter the isp ones, reboot and see if its working?)

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type ipconfig /release
4. Type ipconfig /renew

Check the IP shown is correct. For all the IP information type ipconfig /all

Make sure gateway and DNS are correct.

Alternatively enter a static IP.

May need to reset the device that is giving you the DHCP address as well.

M.

both of your method doesnt work.
but i found out something weird, my Internet Explorer (64-bit) can access the internet...so i guess normal one is 32bit.

and just downloaded Firefox 64bit version (minefield) it works lol, can open websites.

:( guess i'll have to reinstall this thing.
