Hi chaps, I have a bit of a problem with my new bird. She isn't fat enough for my liking; I'm not sure how to go about force feeding her so she gains some weight!

So my cat caught, I think Wren last night. He seems spritely in herself but is unable to fly so I shall take care of her until she can fly. I have a syringe so I can hand feed her, but I'm not too sure how much and how frequently?

Ruckus :)

I found this;

"Wrens are insectivores so are not seen on seed or nut feeders, They eat all sorts of spiders, flies & other insects"

You should go hunting for some spiders!

There are charities that will take in injured birds. According to the RSPB (Who do not themselves have "hospital" facilities) Tiggywinkles will sometimes take in injured birds too.

RSPB also suggests that Birds that have been injured by a Cat are vulnerable to septicaemia (Presumably if they have actually been bitten) and that a trip to the vet might be in order.

Again, something that might be better arranged by a suitable charity unless you know a friendly vet that might do this "Pro-Bono" (Unless you are willing to pay)

Just a thought, try contacting your local vet to see if they know any local organisations that might care for her.

Small Birds are having a really hard time these days and if you can help her make a full recovery (One way or another) it is a big feather in your cap! Every little bit helps and all that!

Good Luck!
