Honestly, this is driving me to the edge man (*twitches slightly) ;)

Long story short, TalkTalk (TT) wanted me to get FTTP, sent several emails, 'good news! it's available', 'good news, get it for free!' etc

All emails were ignored.

"Good news! An engineer is booked to install your Future Fibre! Please be in from 8am-1pm on this date...."

Despite being a customer for 10 years I thought screw that I'm going somewhere else.

That's where the nightmare begins.

A month-long story short, they can't cancel the FTTP service, then they cancel the whole line, then plusnet can't take over because there's a cease order on the line. I have to be without internet for 10 days to a 3 weeks, maybe get a new line.

Nobody at TT knows what's going on, nobody has any info. I'm talking to them several times a day, all different departments, they're all inept.

I could still be cut off today, the woman I'm talking to now is saying my current broadband package is cancelled and I AM being disconnected today, despite calling them everyday this week to state I didn't want this. I even have a recording of them stating the services would not end.

It's absolute insanity. TT are not signed up to the ombudsman.

had very similar experiences with them. arranged a home move, gave the dates. arranged it so i had internet in the new place before it went off at the old place (WFH) was told that would not be a problem.........how wrong was i.

TalkTalk are an utterly useless and completely inept company who employ the services of call center staff who are blatant liars and totally ******* fekless.

just let it go, you'll only give yourself a load of stress for, ultimately, very little.

Years back had them try to move me from BT to themselves after a cold call because I apparently didn't say no firmly enough  had to use my BT ELC contact to put an end to the nonsense and avoid my line being ceased.

So it looks like I'm going to be without internet for two weeks, unable to work.

I have a standard router from talktalk 2017 model, can I use that to connect to my phone as a WAP or a neighbour's internet?

Inept is the word I would use, none of the departments are connected, nobody knows what they're doing and they all sound like they're 16, just pulled off the streets of brixton.

I'm disabled, quite heavily and this is a big loss. I have so much other stuff going on, this is too much.

All for a service I never requested or agreed to.

Demand to speak to their executive complaints department. Then you'll get through to some brass that can do something useful hopefully.

Turns out as soon as that FTTP order was placed that was the end of my land line, no one ever told me that. It was inevitable my service and line were ending today, despite being told 30 times that it would continue.

Oh you're stuck in that he'll. I had something similar many, many years ago. I used to have Internet provided by Nildram. They were bought out by another company y who were then bought out by Talk Talk.

But... something went wrong with the transfer and my line ended up in limbo. I wasn't being charged at all and TT lost all records of me being a customer. While that sound great the line would break every fee fay's and go offline for a day or two before bouncing back into life. I also could not upgrade to a faster connection. Every time I called them to discuss it they said I wasn't a customer. But every time I called a different ISP to sign up to them they said I couldn't because mu line had a marker saying TT owned it and they needed to release it.

In the end I escalated to OFTEL and it suddenly got fixed.

Still got my gotadsl email address, I think it was Nildram > pipex > TalkTalk.

I too had an issue back in 2014 going from ADSL to fttc with Talk Talk, lost internet for 3 months, iirc the line was up in a day but there was a some issue on Talk Talks end, I'm sure I could ping servers but couldn't browse the net, anyway Talk Talk kept blaming bt saying I wasn't connected yet I could read the line stats on my modem. I ended up just using next doors WiFi until it magically resolved itself one day.
