How do you get your grocery shopping?

your paid to empty your van to my door, don't see why I should help get it from your van, wtf how lazy are you no wonder no one tips

Depends what floor your front door is on, we don't have to go above the 2nd floor if there isn't a lift. I've never not gone to someone, so don't call me lazy.
I also don't expect a hand, and haven't ever asked for one. It is however appreciated if you want to offer a hand, if you don't then it doesn't bother me either.

Veg box once a fortnight (I use Riverford, who have been excellent :))
Local baker about three times a fortnight
Local fishmonger once or twice a week
Occasionally local market when I have the time
Waitrose for a few other bits and pieces (mainly fruit unfortunately) roughly once a week

I might try a fish box at some point though - been looking at the Cornish Fishmonger but I don't know anyone who's tried them.

I spent twenty minutes trying to find this thread, because some Don moved this thread out of GD to la cuisine only to find that the question that I asked ahleckz wasn't answered :(

What did you ask? About the freezer?

I've delivered many a thing, and the items have been pretty much defrosted. There are a few different types of vans used, we use the old style at my shop (back loaders) and whilst they have a freezer unit in the freezer section it isn't very good.

I'm very concious about freezer burn, it probably is more psychological than anything but meh. I've noticed many frozen items become unfrozen in our van freezers... I'm sure it'll be fine, but I wouldn't bother myself.

There are about 5 supermarkets and 10 newsagents within 10mins walk of my flat, so I go to one of them. It'd take me nearly as long to order online tbh.

Also grocery shopping is one of the few things I do which invloves (slight) exercise and fresh air, so I figure it's good for me.

This is more a technical question but someone might have had the same issues as me.

I was at my parents house the other week and my Mum gave me a shopping list of stuff she wanted from Tesco.com I put the order through but when it came to payment I couldn't get her VISA card to work, I was directed to the VISA secure payment page where you have to enter characters from your password but it kept rejecting the payment. I tried to use my VISA card and I couldn't even get as far as the VISA secure page.

I then went home and logged onto Tesco.com from my computer and I went through the payment process again using my Mum's VISA card but this time it worked! What the hell is going on here? Both our PC's are running Windows 7 64bit and are both up to date and use Windows Firewall and AVAST anti virus the only difference is the routers, I have a BT homehub router and they have a Sky router. Any ideas?

Indeed this was the question :)

Thanks for answering, think I'm happy to risk it on the few things I order from frozen...(peas)

i agree, in the advert the guy brings it into the kitchen ready to be packed away!

The last time i used a service like this i got 3 calls because the guy couldnt find our address (never normally happens), and then he called again to say he was outside and me to come and collect my shopping, didnt even ring on the door.

He got out of his van, opened the back and went in, passed me three crates of shopping and asked that i take them into the house and bring back his crates and that he was in a hurry to get to his next drop-off!

the last time i use online grocery shopping :p

Maybe it's his store then I guess. The store I work at is actually quite good when it comes to van repairs when anything is slightly off.

We have 6 vans total with a mixture of side loaders and the old style back loaders, of which we only use 4 of the vans at a time leaving 2 spares for when something goes wrong.

Sounds like a bad experience to be honest. Although admittedly they do phone you before they turn up at the door. But that is for students normally :)

Rear loaders with poor rubber seals.
Tbh, if freezer burn isn't a concern and logically it shouldn't be, there is nothing to worry about.

I don't see why? I'm an Asda delivery driver and I can't see why you would advise against it.

Any Christmas tips? 1 driver made £28 on thursday :o

I'd tip my delivery driver for xmas if it was the same guy every week - i.e. regular person like my posties but it's not - it's been a different person nearly every time I've had a delivery. I think it would be unfair to tip one guy just because he got lucky and got the xmas week for me.
