Haha, try watching Game of Thrones on the tube. I had no idea how graphic it was and ended up angling my phone away all the time like a weirdo.
I never travel without earphones so I can listen to music and watch stuff on my phone. I also usually bring a Russian book since I am learning Russian.
I was watching the Inbetweeners on the train and the older lady sitting next to me was staring at one scene where Jay was cracking one off to his laptop...
Funnily enough I started that this week and i know what you mean Before that it was sopranos which wasn't too bad, but a lot of scenes were in bada bing (strip joint)
I would like to read more but as you can do so much on phones these days, radio, tv, films, web browsing, games etc it's hard to go back to the humble book. I can't even be sure i'd use a kindle if i bought one

Family Guy on a Airplane was fun. The couple next to me found it hard not to watch and giggle while the other couple to the side was rather uncomfortable
I listen to my iPod and read/watch the days news on my iPad (I connect it to the net via my HTC Desire HD). My commute time is around 1hr20mins, the first bit is via peasent travel (aka the bus), the second is on the train.
Plan (I haven't started le job yet) =
1) music/podcasts via in-ear-monitors, saving for custom ones which will sound immense + offer superior isolation to most universal fit ones, listen to a ridiculous amount of music so should have about a year's worth of stuff with me
2) iPad for books/RSS/games/painting
3) doodling in an small sketchbook (may get things like the anatomy/poses app for iPad for reference)
4) perving, if possible
I like learning new things all the time, so why not take the opportunity to read for example, a programming book or a music book. Whatever takes your fancy. That's what I normally do plus listen to music sometimes.
