Or, vaseline, put loads on before you go to bed and you'll wake up with the lips of a pornstar - soft and sticky.

Don't lick them, you'll remove all the oils which stop them drying out and make them even dryer.

I am not sure something qualifies as a 'saying' unless it's part of common parlance.

In regards to the OP's question: What sort of lips are we talking, are they the thin and narrow sort, or the thick and full sort?

I hate dry lips, so to make mine moist I use a Nivea Coco Butter lipbalm. Tastes nice but doesn't leave a shine so people don't think I am wearing lip gloss.

I save that for the weekends!

The only thing that has ever worked for me (my lips sometimes go really dry in the winter) is palmers cocoa butter lip balm.

Vaseline doesn't mosturise - so it will only temporarily feel like it's working, but not actually achieve anything in the long run.

My advice: stop using products on your lips and let them get back to looking after themselves. They can and will.

mustard, slaver mustard all over your lips and after a few weeks you won't need to worry about chapping.

Can't you just use a normal moisturiser? I find vaseline seals which is great for prevention against cold and wind but not to cure dry lips.
