How do you mouse?

Left-handed claw grip, with buttons reversed, left index finger clicking right (set as left...) button and wheel, left middle finger clicking left (set as right...) button.

Have tried different ways of gripping and placing fingers, but always slip back to this one. It's by far the most natural for me. The lacks of good left-hand suitable mice is an issue, though. :(

I tried reversing the buttons and I couldn't get on with it at all (Maybe because it wasn't an option way back in the dark ages, so I had to make do?). Otherwise I am much the same as you.

It has the advantage of stopping the mass of right-handed lumpen using my PC. Their primitive right-handed brains just can't process it. It's fun to watch them try. It's like the opening scenes from 2001. :)

My hands are too wide for option 2 to be comfortable long term. I use my index finger for button 1 and middle finger for scroll and button 2. I've generally got my middle finger in a position on the edge of the wheel where I can scroll and press button 2 at the same time, bit like a heel and toe.

Before seeing this thread, about a week ago I was looking at the mouse and thinking about using the 3 finger method and whilst logically it makes sense, it just feels way too weird.
I think it harks back to being a gamer from the 90's where a mouse didn't have a scroll wheel. 30+ years of holding the mouse one way.....just no...fingers won't let me change.

Recently picked up a Viper v3 Pro from Razer, first Razer mouse since owning a Deathadder back in 2013!

I've used a G Pro Superlight (v1) since 2020 and never felt the need to change, the weight and shape were great and suited my grip style (claw) and hand size. The skates were starting to show some signs of wear and I was tempted by aftermarket ones but decided it was actually worth having a look at some other options considering it had been almost 4 years. The G Pro Superlight 2 was a consideration as it's basically the same except lighter and with USB-C but the Viper v3 Pro has got some great reviews since coming out and there was a 30% code discount on certain selling platform so I got it for 111, instead of 150!

It's a lovely weight and the shape doesn't feel too dissimilar to the GPX, the clicks feel light which is what I prefer. The only thing I need to get used to is the side buttons being in a slightly different position to the G Pro (further back in comparison) but the current benefit is I'm not mispressing them (usually use the further forward one for pinging in fps games and the rear one for selecting my grenade).

Happy with the change so far, I'll see how I feel after more time using it.

Edit: realised this thread was about mouse finger placement, not which mouse... Oops. I also just use 2 fingers, my index finger covers mouse 1 and scroll wheel.

Mines more like 2 but not quite, as whist I do use my middle finger on the scroll wheel, it's also primarily sued for the right mouse button too. But in certain applications and games where you can interact with the left button, control the screen with the wheel and hold the camera with the right, I do end up using 2 (left on left, middle on wheel, ring on right).

depends on the size of the mouse i say.

I have 3 mice connected to my computer. Full palm grip on all

Gaming Mouse - 2 fingers - index for lmb, middle for wheel and rmb
Trackball and silent mouse - 3 fingers - one for each function
