I've never had a gamer name I've stuck with and I always go by the depressing moniker of Eames in all the games I play.

I would like a gamer name, but not something like darklord.

I just want a catchy name that doesnt make me look like a wannabe badass and isn't cheesy.

How did you guys come up with your game names, maybe it will give me some inspiration.

Thanks

My gamer name was actually from an autogenerated name in an old old multiplayer game from the novell netware days. I cut off half of it and re-arranged some letters and used it ever since.

Can't stand wannabe badass nicks heh.

Mines just a tune I like. Some of the abysmal efforts before I stuck with this one still haunt my nightmares today...

Honestly, I smash my hand on the keyboard and then make it pronounceable. That is how I came up with the 2 names I use most in game - Jegethy and Hengera

Umboma's always been my gamer name since Amiga days,

I got it from "patrick mboma" a footballer from Cameroon quite random I know but hey 1995–2004 he scored 33 goals in 57 international's not bad really.

mines maccaria

my nickname is macca but thats always taken so I added my firstborn sons name to it zacharia.

hence maccaria :)

That actually sounds like a good system. Mine is just a nickname I picked up and stuck with. no one calls me Devrij in real life anymore (moved away, new friends etc), so it is preserved online.

Mine is a specific rank of dremora from the Elder Scrolls lore but doesn't really sound much like a rank or position.

Dremora Valkynaz are the highest rank of Dremora and reside at the upper-most pinnacle of Dremora society. They serve as princes and army commanders and possess membership into the personal guard of Mehrunes Dagon, the Valkyn

This is one of my pet hates. Mine is always just some variation of AndyT; however boring that may seem. It just worries me when grown men feel the need to call themselves -=L33tMasterSn1perDarkLordofDeath=- or some such nonsense.

Even worse is non-military types giving themselves names with military rank in them.

Like -=SergeantDeath1972=- or something....

It leaves me cold.

I use combination of Cool Hand Luke, pretty much like the film and I thought it was a good name. Recently it has been harder to get Cool Hand Luke so from BF3 onwards I made up Prattler.

Sometimes I use something that's funny, well, at least it is to me. Otherwise, I tend to go for something thoughtful, even subtle.

I have now two really.

My main one is dogmanstaruk which comes from one of my favourite albums called Dog Man Star by Suede. My other is Sir Elton Pr0n, which is a **** take on Elton John;p

I used to use Replicant which came from Blade Runner. Not very original names I know, but **** it. I like them:p

LOL brilliant, going to try this sometime!!

I just use my first name with some random letters after it depending on the game I am playing.

so Melmac
Meladan
etc. etc.
