How far do you commute to work?

14 one way and 11 back, if im in the office all day I will take the motorway in the morning, its slighlty longer but takes less time, on the way back I take the shorter and more scenic route over the downs, but I seldom take the route back as I am a field engineer and tend to be comign back from somewhere else.

This makes 3 of us who work in Milton Keynes! Depending on where I have to go, it's anywhere from 12-18 miles or so, taking between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

I could be working in Milton Keynes by this time tomorrow night, and if so (not counting my chickens I hope!) it would be about 20 miles (35 mins).

Several 2-3miles posted up. For me that isn't far enough to deem the car necessary and for almost all weather conditions at that. How close do most people feel they need to live before they would consider walking instead? I mean if this is from a village to somewhere else and the road isn't really safe and you don't want to cycle in your suit etc fine but i was making a bit of an assumption that if in some cases are so close to work, you will be in a town rather than a village?

Then I would have put "WINNER", honestly - mistake like that, could lose the case.

Did I say that you were wrong? I simply said that I think you'll find I won. Saying that I won is not saying you're distance wasn't 'win'; in fact I didn't even mention you're post.

:p

35 mile round trip for me.

It takes me 25 mins each way,

edit: I use the car because the train station is miles away from work, I would much prefer to take the train if i could.

Actually I win (so far), door to door is about 3m ;) Further if I go via the kitchen or bathroom :p

Right that's it I'm relocating.

<gets out laptop>

right its now 0 metres and 0 seconds from my bed to my workplace.

Feels kind of lazy, but meh

27miles each way. M602 > M62 > M6 J25. Takes 40mins in the morning and about 45-50mins in the evening depending on how bad the traffic is in Manchester Centre.

I really do enjoy the commute, time to wind down and listen to music. The cost is an issue and my current job isn't the best paid so I'm looking else-where. I'd love a job in the City Centre (I'd quite happily do a 30min walk) but I'm finding it difficult to find one at the minute. Looking at one in Northwich which is 19miles from my apartment so shorter but would probably take the same amount of time.
