How fast do you go on the motorway?

you what?

completely running out of steam at 130?? BS tbh...

No, not BS. An ST220 crawls to a halt at about that speed, and will slowly slowly make its climb to 150 or so. Its simple physics, it only has 220bhp, thats never going to provide a super top end.

im pretty sure dang when he had his st220 in indentical spec had his foot burried into the carpet at 130 to creep up to an eventual 155mph...

Yeah, they creep up to that sort of speed quite nicely. The straight through blueflame exhuast does help a lot though.

Well tbh - mine runs very nicely past 130 mark. thats all I care about :)

Need to get on the rollers sometime though. Love to see what sort of BHP its running.

In a big saloon like a Mondeo - yes. Have you tried taking a 3.0 saloon to 150mph from 130mph? It'll take a good minute or so, probably longer

As said though usable is subjective :) He said racing.

indeed, a 1 minute wait isnt that long at those speeds :)

and just before the flaming begins, im sure it took a minute to get from 100 to nearly 140 mph in my puma (indicated obv, id be amazed if it was doing 125) annoyed i didnt keep it burried for longer before I gave up to see if it would do the magical 'off the clock' :)

About 90 if traffic allows. More if an empty motorway.

Cars do seem to be very innacurate though. Borrowed my dads toyota avensis and it was a full 10mph out, ie indicated 80mph was actually 70 on the GPS. the merc is spot on though, at least to 100.

see my thread for the next rr day on sat november 18th :)

I know.

16th going to see "deal or no deal"

So Saturday I am working 9-5 (20% bonus) to make up. Will be taking it to friends local garage on the 3rd December to sought my LPG injectors out. I'll get him to put it the car on the rollers ;)

Its a LPG/performance garage

I used to do any speed I felt was safe for the situation to be honest.

Then I got pulled over and I am now awaiting summons, so now I would rather be later to my destination and stick to the respectable limit.

i usually do about 80-85mph with the ocasional spurt to 100mph if clear and good conditions but got too point now where its not worth the fine and points of going over 100mph.i dont speed when there's lots of traffic about, aint worth it

Depends on the motorway, time of day, amount of traffic and conditions...

Same here.

On the two motorways that I regularly drive (M5/A1) I tend to sit around 90ish. I save the really high speed stuff for B roads ;)

but thats just so you hear the exhaust bouncing off the trees/walls, right... ;)

About 85mph where I can

And yeah you do need well over 250bhp to make big speed acceleration increases over 130mph otherwise it just drags itself up through the numbers.

It's amazing how beautiful 400bhp is on the motorway, totally effortless up to about 160mph. then as you say the last 15mph takes a while. :D

If it's of any interest my car takes 8/9 seconds to go from 130-140mph. Will have to test 130-150 and get back to you :p
