How good is your anti-virus software?

Kaspersky here, saved, opened several times, 2 mins gone, nothing.

And tbh I'm not too impressed with it overall, I used a Microsoft worm scanner/removal tool a few days ago and it found 6 worms, all missed by kaspersky. kasperky did find them as the microsoft software was finding them,/scanning but obviously that's fairly useless.

Edit, clocked it with a right click/scan file.

Sounds like you have somehow disabled real time scanning (or had it disabled without your knowledge). Is self defence enabled also?

But I agree, this file is useless bar testing your real time scanner is indeed switched on. Every AV out there since Noah's Ark 0.1a has used this file :p

Bullguard didn't allow me to save it, got quarantined before it saved. Interestingly, the warning message said it wasn't actually a virus.

same here with bitdefender....i hear bullguard is quite good actully from a few people

Why is it that Macs cannot get viruses?

They can. There just aren't many of them, and they're harder to be infected by. Same with Linux. Rootkits exist but you'd generally have to be pretty daft to allow them to install, due to the way permissions work in *nix.

Its not very good, the subscription ran out a month ago and I haven't got round to paying them for another year yet.

Oh and in regards to the file, Vista just moaned that its not compatible with 64 bit.
