Made no difference here, saving it as a .txt and it was still picked up, as it should be.

That's on symantec at work.

NOD32 got rid of it for me. Didn't even have to click anything apart from close the window that came up.

yes i have a mac and i have an antivirus program watching my download folder

The Eicar Test File is an industry standard for confirming that your AV software is scanning files correctly.

No AV software should miss it, if it is performing properly.

Exactly.. Its a standard test string for anti-virus. Always use the Eicar test to test our server mailscanning when I make changes!

I figured in 5 years AVG has caught nothing because I don't have a raging porn torrent habit, but instead, everyday it has updated itself and decided to restart my pc. When told it couldn't do that it decided to whinge to windows so that Security Centre would instead whine at me, update avg for itself and then restart my pc. I consider antivirus and Windows Security centre a self installed virus and binned them both.
