How hard can it be to return an IPhone to it's owner?

Prsonally if I was out for an entire day I would definately take my smartphone out with me. I made the mistake of not taking it on holiday with me (to save it being stolen/getting wet), taking a dumbphone instead... Got back to the UK and just missed the last train home. Instead of being able to navigate my way through london and check other forms of transport on the internet I resigned myself to sending a text to let someone know where I was and spending the night (in the cold) sat outside Kings Cross station... Never again am I not going to be without my smartphone!

My phone however locks with a passcode screen, which nicely has my contact details on (Name, home phone no. and post code) so it wouldn't be difficult to get it back to me and reveal no other data (you have to get past the pass code screen to read texts etc).):p

And then they report it lost and the IMEI gets blocked and it's worthless unless you know how to switch an IMEI and are comfortable with breaking the law...

If someone is scummy enough to keep the phone in the first place they wouldn't have any qualms changing the IMEI number, especially considering there's zero chance of being discovered.

Every young person has an old crappy phone laying around somewhere they could take to these things.

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't then...

I'd have kept it. Got half my beer and my chair nicked at leeds fest :(

People who take decent phones etc are just asking for it to get lost. Every young person has an old crappy phone laying around somewhere they could take to these things.

Learn to put your stuff in your tent then! ;)

This Uncle parted with 'So there are some nice people in Stoke' :D
:D:D

I once ran after someone to return their iPhone that they left on the counter in Starbucks. She said, "thanks for touching my phone" and then muttered something to her friend in a different language.

I'm surprised at the amount of people who don't have any confidence in their abilities to look after their own property.

I've had smart phones for the last 7-8 years or so, that involves many nights out, many festivals and even more beach parties and I've never lost one. I don't see why anyone would spend so much money on a decent phone, and then never take it anywhere.

I once saw a bloke walking out of Tesco with a big crate of Carlsberg. I went into Tesco to find an iPhone atop a large pile of Carlsberg which I assume was left there by the Carlsberg guy. I picked up the phone, and tried to work out how to call from it. It rang in my hand and the guy came back with his mates to retrieve the phone. I felt a bit sorry for him, only being able to afford Carlsberg due to being tied to a £700/month contract, and handed him his phone back. I'm not surprised he didn't offer me a beer with the amount he has to spend each month to keep his iPhone happy.

However, I was glad to be shot of such a pretentious device TBH. :p

You have issues. It's just a phone :p

Shes a retard, keep her phone.

I take my iphone out to festivals, bars, clubs and god knows where else without any issue. Not a lot of point of having it if I don't use it.

My eldest took her IPhone to V last week and had to keep going back to the car to charge it up.
She quickly caught on and took an old brick with her to Leeds.

How? Was the bettery totally on its way out or something?

You can easily make an iPhone last a weekend, unless you're constantly on it which seems strange if you're at a freaking festival.

Not that nice you genuinely tried to steal it till you couldn't get past the security :o

It is very easy to get around it.
Being the chav I am I hovered over the software button with the new IPSW all ready to go and then my conscience got to me.
Sometimes I do have an angel sitting on my shoulder.
Flame on.

It would run out > go to the car for 30 mins > go back to the festival while texting/Facebooking > run out > go charge for 30 mins > go back texting/Facebook > and so on.
She'd only had it 2 days before V so what do you expect?
