How hot should a Q6600 G0 be on a Tuniq Tower at idle, mine seems toasty.

Just checked mine again you need to run Atsiv & Coretemp-statup before running the main programme.

You can use speed fan but you will need to add 15c to temps being shown, as it seems to under rate the temps.

Bizar, try task manager just to check that the original process is not running, then try extracting the download to a new folder, just in case.

the original one can't be running as the error I got caused me to have to restart my PC, as the error kept coming up and wouldnt go away.

anybody know what I could do? I feel sick, I've just bought this cooler after it was recomended here to overclock my cpu, and its worse than the stock cooler. I don't understand, is this some kinda joke.

Seems to be rather high for GO stepper.

Have you rechecked your Tuniq? Or have you applied a fresh application of Artic?

I dnt have artic, its using TX-1, which is the stuff which comes with the tower.

What do you mean by rechecked my tuniq? I've just spent the last three hours trying to install it.

What's your case cooling setup?
I have just got the same chip as you, with an Arctic Freezer and currently idling at 37,36,33,33 after just stopping 3 hours Priming. I'd expect the Tuniq to peform better - does it not come with compound pre-applied?
Plus, did you say you were at stock? I have a 900Mhz overclock with my temps!
Reseat your cooler with the specified amount of compund, applied horizontally. :)

the case cooling has one 120mm intake fan on the front, and one 120mm outtake fan on the back.

it does not come with the TIM pre-applied, this is the first time I've used TIM, so I may have not put enough on, but i spread it out as thin as it would go, as I was advised too.

and yes I'mt stock and it's a G0 stepping model.

edit: dont suppose somebody could post a pic showing how much thermal paste you should put on?

maybe thats where I went wrong I used a credit card, and my finger to spread out the paste.... would it make that much difference?

Try the Arctic guide and see if that gives you better results.

What is important the Artic silver has to have time cure, The silver needs time to embed. This also applies to MX

Temps are somewhat high after new TIM application. As a suggestion give a couple of days to embed hopefully you will see a temp drop.

If after a couple of days there has been no change to the temps re clean the CPU with a alcohol cleaner and reapply TIM.

I used meths to clean the stock intel stuff of, could that be causing trouble?

The temperature seems to be fairly stable.

what is MX? this another thermal paste I asume?

temps apear to be dropping slightly already...
