How I kept calm I'm not sure...

Why overtake if someone is doing the speed limit? If they want to speed off at 80+ down a main road then so be it. I'll brand them an idiot just as others have been branded.

At the end of the day, you cannot make the person behind you obey speed limits, your not the police.

If someone wants to overtake you, let them.

LOL at the type R owner

Why overtake if someone is doing the speed limit?

Because they wish to drive faster than you do would appear to be the obvious answer to that question. Given that you presumably also break the speed limit when you retaliate by re-overtaking them...

you have a video camera in your car driving on a country road late at night, surly you are one to take corners at speed and drive dangerously??????????????

He was driving fast and dangerous, as most likely you do too..

Yeah, I try and avoid all those busses that hoon about the place as well since they have cameras.

Yes, but I'm not denying being an idiot, big difference there. So it's ok that the CTR owner wished to drive faster than the MX5 if we're going by this logic. I'm not condoning the move at all, but the post does have a hint of a butthurt driver.

There is a difference between making a normal overtake because you wish to travel faster than the car in front, and accelerating when somebody is travelling alongside you.

If you genuinelly cannot see the difference then it worries me you have a driving license.

Not as huge as the hint of people completely missing the point.

I always drive on the speed limit, if someone wants to be an idiot and overtake me because they have a point to prove.

Actually, when I overtake people, be they doing the speed limit, under, or over, its never to prove a point? It says a lot about your attitude as a driver that that is what you think other drivers have in their mindset when you are being over taken.

If you would like to know more about your mindset feel free to ask, I am feeling generous and will happily post more later. To redeem your offer, please post with the phrase

"Yes please, I would like to know more about myself talented posting superstar Hurddurf"

This offer is open to anyone. T&C apply. I have the right to reject etc etc etc.

It depends what they're driving, if it's a baseball cap wearing teen in a Corsa/Saxo/Fiesta/Civic etc then yes I absolutely believe they have a point to prove. If it's a 'family' car or a car that I know is much more powerful then carry on.
Same on trackdays, I'll let everyone pass initially (as is often the rules) but then it's game on.
TW, if you're worried about me having a driving license then perhaps you'd sleep better at night if you revoked yours.

Irony++

So you choosing to 're-overtake' isn't acting like someone with a point to prove?

I always drive on the speed limit, if someone wants to be an idiot and overtake me because they have a point to prove I wrongfully get drawn in and will sometimes overtake again if the conditions are right. I don't do this all the time, it's literally once in a blue moon. Maybe I gave the wrong impression from my first post.

I don't know which is worse.. This guy or the guy not using full beams when he knows the road :(

This thread has done an excellent job of showing up the idiotic drivers on this forum. Bravo.

Agreed, anyone who doesn't accelerate when someone else tries to overtake them is a clearly an idiot made to look an absolute fool, after all, what will all the mad fly honies think? Your never going to get laid!

I am sorry you are so insecure about your slow car. Please know that it gets better.

Racing on the road and on trackdays? You know there are plenty of quite inexpensive race series you could join?

You may find it more difficult to prove your superiority though as they'll all be racing as well. It really isn't on putting the health and (sometimes expensive) vehicles of other people at risk when they haven't agreed to those sort of antics.

Civic type R's = gods of the road lmao

I think you're right.

Having had my Type R sorn'd for 3 months I took it to a Honda specialist to have it MOT'd and serviced on saturday.

Within 15 miles or so I had some idiot in some blue Mazda thing sitting up my rear bumper.

However, this "god" wasn't going to be provoked by a fog-lighted mortal.

I may have to trade it in for a white Audi with DRL's, so next time I have an excuse to be up his rear bumper.

**edit** and have the pleasure of amazing soft-touch plastics... sexy.

I will admit to trying to stop them when on a bypass or long straight main road.

Same on trackdays, I'll let everyone pass initially (as is often the rules) but then it's game on.

LOL WUT

Do you get kicks out of performing an overtake, and feel that your pride has been dented when you get overtaken or something? Overtaking is a chore!

Find a road, find a speed you're happy with, and then just get on and drive at it. Whether it be higher or lower than the arbitrary number in a circle makes no difference. Drive at the speed you're happy with. If someone has chosen a speed slower than you, then if you can be bothered overtake when it is safe to do so. Then just carry on your way. If someone has chosen a speed higher than you, then they'll overtake you if they can be bothered. Just carry on driving at the speed you have chosen. The fact that they want to go faster than you is of no significance. It doesn't make you any less of a man! Just you get on with your life and they'll get on with theirs.
