As title says,

I am curious as to how far people are prepared to travel to and from the office?

I am currently looking at renting a place within 15miles of my office, and having a hard time getting any help as I am relocating there.

The reason for my ask is that I am wondering if I should be looking further outside of where I currently am viewing.

Currently about 38 miles 45 minutes each way. Which is probably quite long for a lot of people but it used to be a 75-85 minute 63 mile journey (including dartford crossing), so compared to that my current drive seems easy.

I also dont feel like this is too bad...
My previous drive was about 60 minutes one way

About 45 minutes but only do it 3 days a week these days. Last home and place of work was more like 35 minutes but 5 days a week.

I'm happier living a little further away to get the home I wanted rather than closer.

Who are you expecting help from and why?

Surely all that matters is how far/long you're prepared to travel.

100 miles round trip on the 2 days a week I'm in the office. Takes between 60 and 90 minutes each way depending on traffic.

Agreed, But as I am relocating to the UK, I am just trying to understand the average of what people consider a normal travel distance to work.
Like there are stats I can check sure, but its also nice to hear about from people themselves.

I mean myself, usually 30-45 minutes I would consider a decent trip.

2 miles when I start next week, been WFH last year or so.:)

In the past have commuted anywhere from a 5 minute walk, 30 minute bus up to an hour drive and another was an hour or so tube ride.

Work is about 12-13 miles away in docklands. I live in just inside the M25, SE London/NW Kent.

Used to use walk, bus, train, tube/DLR, walk. That took about 90mins each way regardless of day/time.

Then got a car and now it's...
Day shifts: about an hour on weekdays due to the queue for the Blackwall tunnel, then 25-30mins on weekends/bank holidays and the same to get home (always 8am-8pm so there's little in the way of traffic regardless).
Night shifts: 25-35mins to get there, about the same back depending on weekday/weekend/bank holiday/half-term etc.

Rarely get delayed driving compared to public transport (had someone jump in front of and go under the train once, stabbing on the train in front, trespassers on the line, signal failure, train failure, leaves on the line, driver sick, etc) and don't miss occasionally having to literally squeeze onto a carriage.

To go to the office I generally leave the house between 530-6am. I live in the countryside on the Kent/Surrey border and the office in either London or Milton Keynes as well as a few other hubs so it's a bit of a trek. Doesn't bother me though, it's part of life and I enjoy it. Probably 1.5hrs each way so not a long commute really.

If I'm working from home, I'm lucky that I have my own office as does my wife so we have some privacy. :)
