How long will I get away with this I wonder?

Far from it:

It is the correct style for the period.

Most cars & bikes use black & silver number plates were i live ;)

I have a black & silver number plate on my bike ....(check the cars in the background)

Oh really?

They look gash.

Silver on black only works when they are proper fully-embossed plates or even better, if the letters are riveted-on.

Cheers for the info, didn't realise there was an officially "right" way to do it.

I'll have to remember that when I get my tyres changed so I remember to buy the wrong width ones so they look stretched, and then lowering it so the chassis is scraping along the road.

Opinions are like *holes......

The CTR tyres are already the wrong width as standard. Wheels are 215 wide and standard pots are 205. OMG EURO!

I'm not 100% on the plates. I'm of the opinion that they should either be on a Guernsey car or a classic. It does look good, but the legalities would always nag me in the back of my mind. I like to keep a low profile.

Plates don't do a lot for me to be honest.

Whats wrong witha nice, clean set of standard (maybe a wee little bit smaller) plates?

I can't believe you put those on your car. They look gash.

Do your mates say "Wow, they're great!" to you and then make suspicious sniggering noises when you walk into the room?

Have you considered adding a GTR badge?

No need, I've already previously owned 2 of the real thing.

With all due respect I don't mind people taking issue with how they look, everyone is entitled to an opinion. That said if I were in a similar position to you (i.e. openly talking about how Euro-look cars with the "wrong" tyres, etc are the greatest thing since sliced bread) I probably wouldn't be so outspoken about it, especially after the negative feedback you got in that thread.

Or maybe that's why you're being so outspoken in mine? Either way I would think of all people someone like you - liking something "different" - wouldn't be so narrow-minded to assume that everyone likes the same thing.

I had put some Black & Silver plates on my old e38 7 Series (which was Black itself) and managed a pull within an hour of them going on the car, the copper was cool & just told me to get the others back on (which were still sat on the back seat) :)

You would be fine, if they pull you explain to them if they are bothered that you will swap over to your old ones which you have in the boot. remember to keep the old plates though.

Easy.

Then why put pre-73 plates on a modern car?

What thread?

Of course not everyone likes the same things. The difference is that I like the right things and the sooner you accept this, the sooner we can advance as a species :)
