Just curious to know how many actual computers people here have. Just the one,or do you keep your old machine as 'backup' in case anything goes pear shaped..

It never occured to me that many would have laptops as well as desktop pc's......jeez,what a clutz :D

I suppose it adds to a bit of security. If i didn't have access to a computer i'd be lost

1 audio machine, 1 gaming machine, my lady has a macbook and a older PC laptop, I'll soon be adding a HTPC. Lots of external 1TB drives, which at some point I would like to replace with a server.

i sold my main rig so i'm one down but i've currently got a shuttle i'm using atm, another shuttle coming on payday (need 2 for my study lab environment) and 1 laptop that i use as a terminal for my cisco stuff

3 desktop's all told, they get passed down to my son’s when I build a new one, now we all have one. Next your hoping to build another which will have to last me a few years and my youngest will get this one (see sig) as his PC is right out of date.

Hell it just goes to show. I currently only have this seven year old P4 Gigabyte GA 8IRXP pc, although i'm in the middle of building a new one. Got the case,PSU and the drives......i'm trying to hold back completing it till i start work again next monday.

Going to order a new monitor tomorrow. I only want something basic and cheap, namely the Acer V173AB. I'll buy a better quality monitor later in the year.
All i've got is this very old CRT viewsonic E7. Having said all that, it's been relatively stable system for these past seven years........till i snapped a blade off the cpu fan this morning.

I'll be keeping this PC after the new one is built. I normally hand it down to my brother in Law.

Rarely throw anything away.

Family home has 7 working base units of varying specs and ages. I did throw away a vintage Compaq 386s a few years ago, along with a few 486 based semi broken laptops.

Edit: and then there are all the consoles :(

My one at work, my main PC @ home, my very old pc (running as web server). And have another old one ready to go once i get my psu and graphics card back i borrow'ed someone lol.

Will prob use that as a development box, like my work one is.

3 desktops (My main one, a secondary one, both used for gaming and a 3rd one I put together for the family to use.), a HTPC in the living room (one of my old pcs) and my laptop
