How many GPU's have died on you?

All my really old stuff outlived usefulness... recently 4200ti - caught fire, 6600GT - one display out died, then the other, 7600GT - one day didn't work, 8800GTS 320- just died, 8800GTS 640 - just died, two 9800GT cards in the last two months at work just died in service with no warning. Pattern?

Asus x800xl was a none reference one that had a better looking cooler on it. fan dies took over a month to replace it.

Asus x800xt finally got the obove card replaced with this, fan died again, same fan type as the XL. Gave up with the RMA on this with the none nonsensical crap that Asus replied to me over and over again.

Asus 9500gt not actually mine but a friends I tried to RMA with Asus, again I gave up when they sent me emails asking for information they had already received in the previous email.

Now I have RMAed things with Logitech and Samsung and I can only say very positive things about both of these companies and as far as I am concerned they can can both have my money again and I recommend them to my friends because of this.

As for Asus, it's a shame. They make good graphics cards like the DCII and some of the best mobos but I know that if something breaks, it's gone and that 3 year RMA basically means nothing. Considering they are one of the most expensive brands I find their aftercare a joke.

I also have a scout round the bay fairly often and the vast majority of the broken gfx cards I see there are XFX so I personally wouldn't touch that brand either.

ATI Radeon 5770 1gb - Memory was bust tried to RMA it twice but OCUK couldn't pick it up :/ (20 pound out of pocket). Tried cooking it but my mums cooker was old and the temperatures went too high and the capacitors exploded. :D

Happy with my GTX480 but I think I need to find an after market cooler. Gelid Icy is in stock so I might give that a whirl.

I've had an 8800GT die after it begged for it's life and pleaded for me not to clock it further. I showed it no mercy.

terrible company i got my pc from instead of replacing psu spent 3 years of my warranty replaceing my cards from sli 7800gtx to sli 280 gtx for sake of admitting they were atfault and changing psu to better 1 they spent probly 2-3k fixing all other stuff no wonder went bust and now under new management.

anyways as soon as warranty was up i spent £100 getting right psu and no problems after that. still was fun getting so many new upgraded replacements

Out of the loads I must have reviewed, just the two, both last year as it happens :(

R.I.P GTX280
R.I.P HD6950

Hmm, in that case I don't know. You would likely end up with a 560 or 570 at a guess which doesn't really help you if they don't have any 480s left. (I don't work for the shop for reference).

Edit:
Might get lucky depending on the brand:-

There is no way I would accept a 560 and a 570 vs a 480 SE is still not really a fair trade when you consider the ram difference the 480 SE is better.

I guess I'm going to end up with a 580 if that's what gigabyte are exchanging them for and just have to sell one of them and run single card or use the profits to buy another.

I see a lot of dead Nvidia cards, :p

Seriously though only card I can ever recall dying was a crappy 9700pro iirc, stupid card, I mean a water block leaks, there's a puddle of water in the slot and on the back and the card just randomly dies......... crappy AMD card. :p

Wasn't happy with that waterblock, leaked like a mofo one day. Only water leaking trouble to date and I've used watercooling on and off since then.
