How many GPU's have died on you?

only had one , x1950 pro 512 by powercolor had it for about 2 years before it died and that was second hand :O replaced with ma engts450 1.5 years ago and its still going great idling at 18 - 21 c

None, but from 6800GT onwards I've always upgraded the cooling for lower noise and reduced temps.

I killed a 6800GT (oc'd to Ultra) by fitting a socket-A cooler instead of the stock HSF - the card didn't even make it into 4 seconds of BIOS before giving up :P

Since the dawn of time (or at least it seems like that at times these days!), one 7800GS with memory problems after a couple of days. So not too bad a track record I suppose.

I've had an "ATI 1650 256MB" die, started artifacting but couldnt RMA it because i glued a heatsink onto the PCIe to AGP converter chip thinking thats what the problem was:p

Then i had a "HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 V2 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3" just die cold blooded style with a black screen got it RMA'd,had 2 in crossfire, sold them on to a guy in England and one of them died again about a year later lol:eek:

Then, surprise, surprise i had another "OcUK ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT SILENT Heatpipe 1024MB GDDR4" brand spanking new, lasted about a year before it just wouldnt display anything anymore,2 red lights on the back it was dead:(OcUK swapped it for a 3870X2 1GB though so i was happy:D

Now i just bought a "refurbished" PNY 9800GT 512MB from here and its 68c idle(55c if i set fan to 100%) and it hits over 100c if i run furmark for a minute:eek::confused::mad::rolleyes:

My 1st ever GPU i bought when i was 14 in my 1st rig i bought with all my saved money which was 6800 ultra when it 1st came out broke after 3 months and was out of warrenty as it was b grade :(

A 440 MX simply stopped working one day, but that was in my mum's PC. No idea what happened there. Replaced it with a Geforce 2 MX. None the wiser! :D

As for me, just the one. A XFX 6850. A nasty, noisy, cheaply made thing which a fortnight or so from purchase steadily packed up over the course of a few days. Never again, XFX.

At home, never had a GPU fail, never had a HD fail, never had a processor fail. And had very many of all of those.

Touch wood (had 2 laptop mobos fail though).
