How many languages can you speak

The main point here is, i play an online game and most players are from mainland Europe who mostly all speak English, some quite young players also who seem to have picked up English within a matter of weeks. English is the undisputed common language.

For one, some of them they actually speak English probably better than I do and for two, they see right away that English speakers on the server generally have no desire to learn any other language, and the majority of us probably couldn't anyway as our brains are so wired into not learning. I know most of this is dictated by America but I still feel a bit embarrassed in the situation. I am waiting for them to turn around and say, let's make German the common language.

Three.

English, Croatian (native), and basic Brazilian Portugese (girlfriend)..

Best way to learn is to go and live there for at least 3 months :)

English, passable French (I can have basic conversions), basic German (I can ask question make basic sentences o sentences, understand simple replies), and very basic italian (mostly just asking for basic things, and a lot of swearing).

3 okay:
Polish ( first language from parents)
Dutch ( 2nd language, at kindergarten&primary school)
English ( primary school & tv)
2 ''meh'' ( can communicate but not really smoothly):
German ( 2ndary school)
French ( 2ndary school)

English, French, German and Mandarin. And I did 6 years of Latin, which lets me blag my way through Italian. It was only doing my English teaching course that I really began to understand our own language though, things like the future perfect continuous or 3rd conditional, which I use all the time, it's nice to actually know what they are...

Fluent in French and English (sort of :p)
Conversational Spanish
Basic Greek (can read it fairly well though) - enough to get by and make myself understood.
I used to have basic Arabic, but owing to lack of practice it's pretty much non existent now :( Could read and write it too.

It's good to see people speaking other languages - I find it tragic and pretty poor that so many people don't make the effort to learn another language.
