How many miles do you do a week commuting

I went from doing 4 miles per day to 70 miles. So jumping from a poultry 24 to 420 miles for the week. Finding it pretty difficult, more so having to get up an hour and half earlier for work :p

I also changed the 182 to a nice big diesel mondeo to soak up the extra miles.

Moved to my current job a few years ago as the 700 mile weekly commute (M62/A63) was too much in the old job. Cut it down to 60 mile weekly. Still 'commute' that distance but most days i also have about 50-100 miles of work related driving to customer sites/meetings. Average ~60mpg.

Hmmm, around 670m per week at the moment. In my new job, 650m per week. I do work away from home, so in the new job it will be 80 per day. 30mpg but on LPG.

Wouldn't have thought the 182 would have drunk that much. I'm looking at train if I can and then retaining something nice at home

No commute as you'd expect down here, 4 minute walk. Makes up for the poor town mpg when I do use the car in gib.

Nah, it was actually really good, taking it easy I could get around 40 mpg. I get over 50 with the mondeo though. So I save around £500 a year with that, which isn't too bad. The main thing I'm finding though is it's a lot comfier doing 70 miles a day in the mondeo than the clio. I really miss the 182, but the commute suits the big diesel barge more than the little hot hatch.

The train would probably have been a good shout, but keeping the clio would have meant more money heading out the door, plus I need a car for meetings and the like.

If you do 0 miles, why cycle?

I walk sometimes

This is true, but given that this is in motors, I figure people want to know about car mileage, otherwise this would be a GD thread.

This

No wonder oil is running out so fast some of the miles people do here just to get to work, a fraction of the uk population and think what people do worldwide each day, somethings got to give.

the UK uses a tiny percentage of the overall world oil consumption, from memory its a toss up between the USA and China

infact here it is albeit a few years ago
