How many of you will be missing work due to the weather conditions?

It's coming down pretty heavy in Fareham, got a few inches already - went to the train station to see that half of them are either delayed or cancelled so decided to work from home instead.

Up here on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border (New Forest) we have some major road closures...the A36 Southampton road out of Salisbury has been closed by the Police as have some other outbound roads, Salisbury isn't far off being cut-off.

Pretty hectic it sounds - it coming down that heavy that way or is it a case of the UK handling bad weather terribly?.

Compared to when I lived up north the south seems pretty quick to shut down!.

I'm at work, snow hasn't hit where I am in Kent yet, roads were definitely quieter than usual this morning, I guess some people stay at home "just in case"

I work in a school and imagine it will close if it starts coming down hard.

Probably just due to the high population density and I imagine the north has more snow ploughs and gritters than us anyway.

Parents are off today, that's how bad it is in South East Wales at the moment (my father once sat in 6 hours of traffic to get to work before, no chance today)

Decided to stay put, its about 2 inches here. They don't bother gritting the roads where I live (Hythe, Hampshire).
But I sent the Mrs's off out to work, she can walk.

I ride to work on a 125cc bike...was bad enough yesterday so not risking it today...arranged a lift in instead...its getting home im not sure how im going to sort haha

I've been warned by my step-dad who went to work in his Land Rover S2 instead today that it's not worth going as the A-road I use has not been gritted until you get to Gloucester. Power went out about an hour ago so I'm tucked up in bed.

Just been told that my step-dad was in low-range 4 wheel drive along most of my route to work so I don't think my little 306 would've made it.

No problems here so I'm in the office (mainly as it's bacon sandwich day) ... if it was bad I'd just work from home.

I'll take my laptop home today too in case there are any issues with travelling at the start of next week.

I'm at work now. Road were much quieter this morning, I guess a lot of people either didn't go in or used trains instead. If it gets quite bad here I will try and leave early though...

Drove in, was a bit sketchy on the side road for the office, fine everywhere else.
Snow is really coming down so doubt I'll be able to get my car up the hill again. Good thing I've brought my full winter kit bar ice axes! Nice gentle 6 mile stroll home later on.

Parts of the M4 by where i live have been closed by the police, cars struggling to make it up the road, so today i am connected up to the VPN and working from home.

Some parts where i am have also had power-cuts, so if that happens the working element will cease.

makes me laugh, a bit of snow and the UK shuts down, any other country just carries on going....

No they don't, only the countries that are used to it all year round and their vehicles are equipped for it.
Oh and of course they have had plenty of experience driving in it.
