How much are you prepared to pay for food?

Depends. The quality of food is not related to the price though... sometimes you pay over the odds because the place is full of jumped up eejits in some golf/cricket/country club. Reminds me of a recentish do where the food was underwhelming and small in quantity and the prices were high, the staff were the wrong side of gormless as were most of the clients.

Give me a down to earth tapas bar in Barcelona/Granada anyday :)

Depends on where it is, when it is.... so many factors.

But really, £6? SIX POUNDS? Just about gets you a Weatherspoons "burger and chips" type meal..... £6 is barely more than a Burger King. Your average kebab is £4, a Subway is not much less. A sarnie from a garage will be about £2.50. So £6 isn't going to buy you very much even if you bought the ingredients and cooked them yourself.

Of course, abroad matters are different. An average main course in Slovakia was £3.50 ish, in Poland £4-£5. Rhodes about £5-£7. Of course you could spend lots more by having steak or seafood.
actually tbh I have never really gone "out" for a meal in a restaurant in a long time in the UK, the most recent event was my dad's b'day which was an indian buffet place in sheffield that was 9 pounds per head.

I have never really been to any type of restaurant in the UK apart from a curry place.

I agree with so many of the remarks in here. I think what it boils down to is that many of us are far more bothered about value than cost. High prices are fine, provided you get good value for it. Trouble is, often you don't.
