How much does your Commute cost you?

Stopped taking the tube at beginning of the year. Saving about £85 a month. Recently bought a bicycle with the money i saved. There's the obvious benefits of the exercise, but I'm also feeling so much healthier now that i don't have to take the disease ridden underground every day.

Annual travelcard zones 1-3 at 1136 for the year, so thus divide that by 12 for monthly cost. 1 Month is free compared to buying it monthly.

Free to work (Dad gives me a lift) and then 4 days a week at £2.50/£2.30 single bus fare in the evenings (depending which bus I get) and a driving lesson on the 5th day at £35.90 for 2 hours. So about £200...

I could easily cycle the 6 miles if I could shower and get changed at the other end.

Cycling,

for the last year about 155 for the bike, about 45 in accessories, so less that's 17 a month. I intend to use the same bike for at least another year, so that will bring it down close to a tenner a month. Alternatively I could get a bus pass at 50 a month, hmmm I think I'll stick with the bike. :)

£3,776 pa for train
£420 pa for parking
£600 pa (approx) petrol to station.

:(

Youch, assuming you're a 40% tax payer (I doubt many people would put up with paying that much to commute if they weren't) that is effectively costing you £8K of gross wages a year.

Mine's £160 per month at the moment (zones 1-5 travel card)
But I'm starting a new role soon that will see me driving to work. It's only 5 miles each way so will probably cost £35ish in petrol.
I'm driving a 10 year old Focus at the moment though, so having to commute by car after 2.5 years of going into London on the train will probably end up with me spending a few grand getting a new car!

And just the incidental risk of being run over on the downside...I can't say I fancy it myself even without that, turn up sweaty in summer and wet in winter.
