How OCD are you over the condition of "your stuff"

This saddens me. I hope none of you ever have to experience the real horror of OCD.

"I was happy earlier, but now I've missed The Only Way Is Essex and I'm in a bad mood now, OMG i'm like, soooo bipolar!"
"OMG I forgot to pick up my dry cleaning, I am soooo Alzheimers"
"I've hurt my knee, I'm such a cripple"
"I'm trying to save money, I am such a Jew!"

And other BS metaphors...

Well yes people can use that term too easily same with depression but people who don't have it will never truly understand and hey good on them :).

A lot of people have very mild forms of OCD though.

Exactly I have fairly bad OCD (though I am the road to revovery after a number of years) but in this area it's only average to mild. It's interesting to see the different view points when it comes to how far people worry (or don't) about keeping their belongings pristine. :)

I suffer from OCD, ranging from very mild to quite severe, depending on what's going on in my life at the time. Interestingly though, Im not really that precious about my things. Only when I first get them. I do find that the feeling of "newness" of things rubs off much quicker these days than when i was a kid.

When I was growing up it was called looking after things. Now it seems folks that do that have a disorder. What a bunch of weirdos.

I'm OCD with my desk at work, and my desktop on all PCs has to have minimum icons! Also all my apps are put into folders on my iPhone and iPad and categorised accordingly!

This is exactly why I used the term "fussy" rather than "OCD". Problem is that people almost see OCD as some sort of status symbol revolving around tidiness.

I'll be honest, I probably do have very mild "genuine" OCD. People always note it too, and not just because I'm fussy about my stuff. Certainly not going to go about using the term loosely though.

I got an 06 320D SE in 2009, 3yrs old and almost mint. Took extreme care not to ding it and got a carpark ding etc.. repaired pronto. Had a slight head on at 10mph or so and slightly damaged the bumper, hardly noticeable but something snapped in my brain and i didn't care anymore, when i traded it in last yr i hadn't even bothered to repair it lol. Seems the first 'done by me' damage is where i give up on most things.

Not wanting your stuff to be trashed and scabby isn't OCD.

No but it can be taken to extreme levels where the littlest thing can cause great upset to someone with OCD where they will worry / obsess about it for weeks/months afterwards, seek outside opinions and generally just cause themselves a world of stress when in reality nothing is really wrong with an item in the first place.

Ohh forgot, i have mad annoyances at stuck pixels, might live with a dead one but a bright stuck pixel i have no tolerances for.

I am rather 'OCD' (not going to get into a weeing competition about its usage and actual definition) about my stuff.

But it lasts forever, rarely (if ever) breaks and is always in great condition.

I scuffed one of my UV lens covers on my 18-200mm lenses for my Canon 450d and I am livid I scuffed it on some handlebars on some rental bicycle handlebars, but it's the resason I bought it in the first place... So save myself £600 on the lense itself so, RESULT!!!

My sister has bad ocd and has to double check closing doors and windows when leaving the house.

I have some pc ocd. But once my own pc is configured correctly I can let it get quite messy for a while and then have a big clean up etc. But if i am on another pc and the mouse is not working right or something is wrong with it. I cant handle it. It realy annoys me when a computer is not correctly maintained. Someone at work uninstalled my notepad++ and i was seriously annoyed.

Almost everything I own is in very good condition.

My tool box is about the only that is not tidy/showing age (its a big tool chest) but all the tools are well maintained and cleaned after use. I can't understand why people don't take care of their property, I have to work really hard to buy it. Replacing tools for example is expensive!

Everything has to be in its 'space' and by I don't mean to the mm but say if someone uses my scissors put them back in its draw, that's where they live!

I hate things not being where they live. You can times that by 10000000000 for DVD/CDs not being in the correct case
