How OCD are you when it comes to petrol?

Brim it each time after doing ~30 miles on the warning light. Can't be doing with waiting to fill up then waiting in the store to pay for the fuel, can often take 20 minutes just waiting when prices are in the news (for any reason, not just shortages).

No company pays for my fuel, I have to do that mileage and the only real difference between filling up £75 every 3 weeks or £25 a week is how much time I spend queueing to pay for it, still has to be paid off at the end of the month.

I don't brim :( I always think if I have a full tank ill probably end up using more just because iv got it. I usually stick 40 diesel which gets me around 360-370ish miles on the range. Just enough for work, sometimes i can get home on Friday other times I have to stick some in for the next week.

It just seems to disappear sometimes, even the smallest of hills you will see your fuel go down the drain, I need to move closer to work

I let it get to about a quarter of a tank, then fill it right back up to full. Normally cost's about 43 quid (diesel).

does anyone ever do anything than fill right up to the top?
the only time I would was if I was in the middle of nowhere and the gas prices were crazy expensive I might just do 1/2 a tank .

Similarly, who uses cash to pay for such things? Beyond change for parking and emergency 20 bucks hidden in my car I don't ever use money. Debit and credit cards replaced the need to carry money around decades ago!

Brim it to click. Repeat 3 more times. Bend over and pay whatever it says.

This. Although there was a time when I would try and get whole pounds on a fill as I get points on my Amex for every pound. But now I cba.

I also know those obsessed with increasing mpg will often never fill the tank as it's extra weight. However, I like to calculate my mpg and always fill, unless, like D.P., I'm somewhere where the fuel is mega £££ and I anticipate being at a regular station later.

If you don't brim it then you'll have to waste 10 minutes at a petrol station again.

I value my time.

80% full -> 5 trips vs 4 trips every 4 tanks.
50% full -> 2 trips vs 1 trip every tank.

I fill to the litre for the points. Always pay on card anyway.

I only use average £20-25 a week so whats the point in having £70 of petrol sitting on the drive from brimming it.

So that you'd only have to go and fill up every 2-3-4 weeks?

I remember when I started driving about 20 years ago you could squeeze the trigger a few times per penny and try and get a bit more out. These days I just brim it.

So you fill up less often saving time and money.

Furthermore, petrol costs almost always only increase, having a large filled tank may save you money when the next price hike comes. Petrol doesn't go bad in anyway.

Brim it every time, but the weekend toy gets ~20l (no ocd here!) from time to time, filling that goes into 3 figures at the moment :(

I always pay with card so I don't care if its 1p, 97p, 64p etc. I can understand odd amounts if you're paying with cash tho.

Used to always try and get it bang on the multiple of 10 or 5 or whatever, bit recently I decided not to bother as 99% of the time I pay by card or get other items. Now i just fill until roughly at the amount i want and let go. Funnily enough it seems more accurate this way as i normally land bang on the exact amount anyway. Though i did end up with a £40.54 the other day as I wasn't on my game...
