How OCD are you when it comes to petrol?

brim every time. if I didn't I'd be filling up every time I got into my car lol 55l tank isn't actually that much when averaging 23mpg :(
 
i used to put 20 quid in but now switched to 20 liters as they've stuck the prices up..

most of the time i just press until it clicks now.
 
I've never understood this multiples of £ thing. I drive until I don't have enough fuel to get somewhere or the light comes on, whichever comes first. I then fill up until it won't let me put any more fuel in. It could be the worlds randomest figure and it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. If I have to fill up every third month it would be too much.
 
A lot of people don't have enough money to fill up everytime..

If you have twenty quid on you why would you fill upto seventeen forty eight or something, you'd just goto twenty quid..

On second thoughts, who cares. I dont even know why im bothering to reply.
 
NZ has a button for multiples so you never need to play the game. Put $30 on the clock and the pump will fill it exactly to that then click off.
I however don't pay for fuel (work does) so I just fill to the brim.

Fuel light bingo is a great game!

I don't understand how the Auto Fill / Select value key works. I tried it once and nothing happened and I looked like a crazy person waiting for my hi-tech petrol pump to work out how much petrol my car needed. I haven't done it again. How does it work?

Look at display, you have many buttons, but the main ones you want are either $10/20 or fill.

Scenario 1: I want $30 in the tank and no, I don't want the extra 1 cent.

Press $10 till it reaches $30. Lift fuel nozzle and hold the trigger down. You may also want to aim for your cars tank or jerry can. once it reaches $30. Click and it stops. You can also use the latch on the nozzle so you don't have to hold the handle while it fills.

You can also go inside and chat up the cashier saying I only want $xx on pump x. They then preload it so you can never go over. Clever!

Scenario 2: I want the tank so full, the needle on the dash is off the scale.

Press fill button. Lift fuel nozzle and pull trigger.
Obvious again, nozzle should be 'inserted' into your car for maximum fill up.

*You may have to give a nod or wave to the cashier so that they know your not going to steal all the fuel plus your a big boy now and dad has let you fill the car up...*

You can again use the latch on the handle so your hand can be free to pick your nose.

The UK has the latch on the handle disabled which is a shame. Well, from the ones I've been to anyway.

I hope this has helped... If not, go to Z garage and they pump the fuel for you while you make smart comments about how the weather is awesome.
 
^Tesco garages have them too (just the ability to select how much you want though), however I tried it once and when it gets to within £1 of your desired value it slows down to a crawl. Takes longer to fill that last £1 than the £29 before it.

Enter petrol station
Fill till click
Pay
Drive car
Rinse and repeat

VAT is calculated at the pump, to the nearest penny

when you go for £20 say, you might not be 'able' to hit that £20 due to the 'rounding up' of the VAT.

Depending on the daily price of Petrol, some days you will be able to hit it,

some days it will be impossible, as the pump will always round up to £20.01.

this is why sometimes you hit it, and sometimes you don't.

Depends what I am doing, weeks of not going anywhere and petrol being pricy I'll do exact amounts starting at £15 and seeing how long it takes me to win the game/give up go home and eat my cake.

Long distance or lots of week day driving just brim it, only have a 40L tank in the polo so I'll get enough fuel in for good money off deals or have a decent enough range anyway.

The input of fuel to your car and the rate at which is delivered probably says that this is untrue.

That's a good idea, dunno why I didn't think of that. I'm usually a money on the .00 man but I'll do the odd amount in the future. :)
 
Has to be an exact amount in pounds, even if that's something like £36, if I go a penny over, I fill it to the next exact £
